I've heard the neck profile is similar to that of a baseball bat!

Strat Plus' didn't come out until 87, but the way they did the serial numbers in 87 is confusing. I see people selling them on Ebay as 84's a lot, and I don't think the Inca Silver came out until 96 or 97.

I had the opportunity to handle one of those guitars shortly after its release and wondered what they were thinking of when they got him sign on that one. Could it really have been a neck profile of his choosing.

Same holds true for the Clapton Signature series which evolved parallel to the Plus. I wish those guys would share what they were smoking when they set up the numbering system back then.

My intellectual mind says that I don't need any more guitars(about 30 now), but my emotional mind tells me I need many, many more. Which do I listen to???
I would rather be hooked on guitars than gambling, alcohol or drugs. At least I can resell my guitars in the future for a profit, and enjoy them in the here and now.

So I went back to look at the guitar today. It is actually a 1993 not a 1996. It played great, feels great, tone is decent. I am going to pass on it for right now. I am going to take the money I was going to spend on it and buy a Fender tube amp.

My son was with me this afternoon when I went to play it. He tells me that this guitar has a certain quality to it; however, I need to get the Tube amp instead. He says that I will not b happy with my current tone and power without it (he knows me too well). He says that $300 is not that great of deal on a used Fender, in fact he showed me better deals on craigslist.

Sorry - brain fart - Good catch and right you are - The guy that sold it to me said that it was an 84 and I immediately corrected him.

Trust your kids to watch for your best intrests. I think his philosophy is solid. You wont enjoy any guitar to its potential until you have it sounding right.

You can never have enough valve amps. Watch it though, AAS (amp aquisition syndrome) is equaly as spouse angering as GAS. I'm at 5 amps at the minute. Eyeing up 2 more and receiving many cross dinner table glares of frustration and malice. All delivered with a air of 'dont you understand the importance of the day spa?'

^^^ Hey Niki - I must be really lucky with an understanding wife... when I called her to get my latest Strat Plus, I was expecting her to blow up... she said OK. Of course on the negative side, my bank account is rapidly being depleted but I do have some $$$ coming in and I must sell something! (see above)

I don't think 30 guitars is too many. There is a 20-year-old kid in Fred that has over 100 and a full-blown music room to boot!
