I purchased the Jimmie Vaughan artist strat yesterday (olympic white). Besides looking awesome is plays great! It has the v neck with a satin finish and the "hot" bridge pickup. this thing really smokes! The only down side is the single layer pickguard with only 8 screws, but I guess that is how he wanted it. His "signature" is on the back of the headstock. I was lured to purchase it by looks, price and kick butt blues tones.

I purchased a sunburst Jimmie Vaughn back in ’02 – back when supposedly they were made out of Poplar (according to the Frontline catalog) – out of my 4 strats it may not be the most expensive but is actually my favorite. My particular JV can absolutely nail the Eric Johnson sound! It is both clear and warm sounding - so warm in fact that I run the bridge tone on 7 ½ when most of my other strats are on 4 or 5 for the same sound. If you absolutely cannot afford an EJ signature Strat this is a great alternative as it comes in virtually the same colors and with similar wiring (slight difference – the EJ has a .1mf capacitor and the JV has a .022 cap.) The only modification I did on mine (other than aged white knobs and pickup covers) was to have a luthier install a custom cut white Graphtec nut – otherwise it’s completely stock, which is amazing for me as all my other strats are modded out the whazoo...

I have tried most strats available at GC and I always keep coming back to that one as my favorite.

How much was the JV strat I would would like to p;ay one the pick up choice sounds like it would sound awsome . You can get 8 hole pick guards from warmouth guitar parts if you wanted to change it.

I paid $675 at the local GC. It still plays better than any other strat I have tried (except of course my '65 sunburst).

I remember playing one at GC and it was really sweet. Seemed big. The neck was really chunky but felt good... sound was really nice too.

I have to get some studio monitors first (Mackie MR5) but after that, I'll be getting another strat... the Jimmy Vaughn is definitely on my list of candidates.

I like the single layer (retro style) pickgaurd. Thats what my 50's Player has and it just looks simple and classy to me.

You can always get a 8 screw pickgaurd from Warmoth that will fit if you want the layers, but again I think it looks nice.

I like Jimmie and his Stratocaster. A Candy Apple Red one is in my future, I hope.

He put his signature on the back of the headstock so it would keep the clean look of the original Strats. What a Guy!

I have a 60th anniversary JV signature strat in Olympic White. It is a great guitar!! Almost my favorite. I love the v shaped neck and the vintage look to it. Mine is completely stock except for the aged white covers and knobs. It is one of the best sounding strats I've ever heard. The only thing I didn't like was my pickguard was not all the way flush with the body. Guitar Center offered to put a new gaurd on it or take $50 off of the price. I decided that I would take the $50 off. I paid right at $500 for it. Great guitar for the money!

I loved the JV strat so much that it was the guitar I was going to purchase as my jump from Gibson until the guy who turned me onto strats offered me to sell me his strat that stared it all for me. It's kind of my Holy Grail. but if I were to purchase another strat it would definately be the JV strat. And yeah I would change out the pick guard

I love my 07 JV, pickguard and all. I just wish my neck pocket was tighter... Does anyone else feel this way? I know that its not an American but ive seen better on other MIM strats.

8 holes and single ply is '50's vintage. So is a particular style of hardware, thick trem block V- neck, and a very deep offset waist( but I don't know that this a feature of the JV.) Also '50's vintage would be the pickup routing but given prior discussion on this matter it may be HSH for convenience.
