I don't know much about them, but never seen Fender mix pickup colors like that. Did he say he replaced the humbucker or anything? or is that supposed to be stock?

That guitar in that photo, my freind has the EXACT same guitar only his is more of a "natural wood" finish. His is a 2004 Highway One HSS Stratocaster. I borrowed that guitar for three months and I searched far and wide for that same colour and model. As my friend would not sell his I ended up purchasing a 2009 Highway One HSS.

It looks like the "real deal" alright, check it out here:

My friend lent me his guitar for 3 months, you will have to excuse the poor quality webcam and the fact that this was the first time I ever recorded myself play:

Darn! You can't see the humbucker but it is black

I also cannot find a photo on google, I spent a long time trying to find a photo of his guitar about 6 months ago and I have no idea what links I chased up back then so there is no way I would be able to find it now.

Oh wait, that link provide by JD, that is the one only the Amber one you had pictured looks better IMHO

That indeed IS the genuine article!! I OWN this very guitar! This finish was available in the Highway One line up up until several years ago.
I LOVE this series of Fenders....so much so that I own 6 of them in just about all of the colors!! I'm missing the Daphne Blue to complete my dynasty!!

All are "improved" with Locking tuners, Ferraglide Saddles, and different pickups.

The Amber has 2 DiMarzio Area 58's and a DiMarzio 30th Anniv. P.A.F..

And my latest addition...#6....in the very rare WALNUT (392) finish.
She will get 2 DiMarzio Area 61's and a Gibson BurstBucker 3!

How DARE I commit cross-pollination....but hey....it WORKS!!!
