i think its time to move on you will never covince me or many others
that the new american standard is a better guitar than the highway one sss strat because its simply
not in no way shape or form. so lets move on.

From my own perspective, this is certainly 100% true...although everyone is entitled to have a differing opinion.

As is the norm in realityland. You are fully entitled to enjoy or favour whichever guitar tickles YOUR fancy more than any other. Just because some people agree with you doesnt make it a absolutely set in stone unbreakable, fundamental rule of the universe that a particular guitar is favoured and held in higher esteem more than anyother by everyone.

It just means some people like the guitar.

Myself if i could find a small headstock maple boarded highway1 i'd snap it up. Pickups and controls whatever can easily be changed, the look is right. proper trem, small headstock and 21 frets. Just like a 57. One of the guitars that is really held to be the strats pinacle of design along with the 62.

Better, worse, whatever is in the eyes of the beholder.Fender makes different guitars for different tastes.I tried a few hwy1s a few months back and they were descent guitars. To my ears they sounded a little darker than than the American Standard.I couldnt get past the big headstock or the finish that flakes off before your eyes. The absence of a case didnt help.I chose the American Standard and couldnt be happier, but the hwy1 is a good guitar for the money, for sure.

This about sums it up, really. :)

Besides....this whole H1/AS argument has already caused another thread to be locked - it'd be a shame if this one got locked for the same reason.

I wasn't really disputing your claim. I only say in imaginationland because when you compare two different instruments that produce two different sounds, they are just that, different. The part that determines whether one is better or not takes place in one's imagination, their mind. I have played both a standard and a HW1, both were set up identically through the same amp, and they both sounded like good old fashioned stratocasters to me. But of course I'd say my 57 AVRI destroys them both simply because that's what my imagination is telling me ^^

Capo please dont waste your time mate. Some people will never understand that some people prefer Chopin to john lee hooker. Their just not capable of understanding that opinion differs from person to person, that one mans manna is anothers hemlock. Instead they choose to believe that any opinion that doesnt exactly mirror his own comes from a fundamentaly flawed mind. They will never accept that opinion is formed in the mind and choose to believe opinion is some rock solid immutable substance.

Your bashing your head against a brick wall in this case mate. (I agree with you the 57's and 62's are bloody fantastic guitars. Cream of the crop productionline)

The Highway Strat is a very fine guitar. Bought mine because I always promised myself a US Strat and it was the cheapest way in. Is it better than a standard US model? No idea, never played one. Don't care either.

Enough already?
