Simple, don't buy it. If people stop paying high prices for these instruments, Fender will have to lower their prices.

Man, I've had the same problem... Try to hold out as long as possible, that guitar is kryptonite to the Strat player...

Capo is right on the money. Stake out ebay for a week tops and you will have that ax mint for no more than $1,300. This was the best year I have ever seen -it is a sin to say because a lot of guys are selling there collections or gear to make houseor car payments because of the economy, but it is a total buyers market,So get what you want before it ends which I hope is soon.

thoughts on GAS? Well considering I have a terrible case of it I'd be a bad person to speak on this topic! I'm currently selling everything on Ebay in hopes of getting myself a new Am Stratocaster.

GAS = Guitar Aquisition Syndrome.

It's an impulse to buy a guitar. Very contageous. I happen to have it right now. :wink:

Or it could mean Gear Acquisition Syndrome, which is the impulse to buy amps, pedals or other guitar related items.

Ouch!! The 57 RI went up that much??? Just a month ago, MF was selling the 57 and 62 RI with the 65 Princeton Reverb for $1899. It was a package deal. To bad you missed that one.

Yup. Fender cranked up the prices on lots if not all their guitars. The American Vintage Series was one of the models that got a price hike. It's getting to the point where musicians will be unable to buy a brand new Fender anymore.

Follow the above advice and keep a close eye on Ebay. There are several American Vintage Strats for sale there with really excellent prices. I bought both mine on Ebay and am totally happy with both of them.

Patience my friend, patience.

It looks like the market and the economy are catching up to Fender's pricing. I was looking for a used EC Custom Shop and figured ebay was the way to go. Found one in the color I wanted on ebay. The seller never called me back so I never bought it. Three months later I ended up buying a brand spanking new, warrantied axe for what the dude was asking for his 2006.

Go forth and spend.
