HI guys,

I just picked up an older Fender "Starcaster" distortion pedel for dirt cheap. I got home plugged it in and its kind of interesting sounding. Very tinny. But still fun to mess with.

Can anyone tell me anything about this pedal? It is light to medium blue and says distortion on the bottom and over the plastic battery cover is says "Startcaster" is large letters and below that it says "Fender" in smaller letters.

I'm just curious about this pedal because I've never seen one before. So I am wondering when they were made and if it is of any value. The guy I bought it from also has a Yellow Chorus pedal from Fender that matches this one.

Is the distortion or chorus pedal collectible?

Here are some pics

I don't think it's as old as you think it is. The big Fender stuff was the Fender Blender and the Fuzz Wahs. I still have the giant cast aluminum job from the 70's. It's pretty cool sounding. No IC's in mine, it has transistors. I've had that since I was a kid. They had a chrome job that they reissued and I had one of them too, but I liked the later one better. The Starcaster stuff sounded pretty bad. Could be fun to play around with though.

exactly, its fun to mess around with. I didn't buy it in hopes it was a rare find. I just thought it was interesting and sounded different then the distortion pedals I'm used to hearing. At $15 it was worth the price of admission.

I like all the tone controls. Wonder if it's a good mod candidate?

Thanks for the link. Now I can see some of the settings for different sounds. I picked it up for $15 so I'm happy

that seems to be the whole point of the news incarnation of the Starcaster brand, to sell to the non traditional guitar markets. like to get them into the hands of people who would never frequent a guitar store, and would otherwise not have access to them.
