Very interesting, all_thumbs09. Make sure to give us exhaustive photographic documentation of every tiny detail of the project. You know how we love it. Good luck finding the guitar that's hidden inside that block of wood! 8)

Will sir be joining at the 12th fret or performing a cut out for access?

Heres some more carving influence by a British master

http://www.brianeastwoodguitars.co.uk/bender.html

Lots of potential for a lovely flame/tigerstripe top in that hunk o wood.

Donmac
You need to open a account with photobucket, upload your pictures to there. Hover your pc's cursor over the picture you want to display. A series of codes will appear in a box select the one that starts . Copy that code and paste it into your post here.

Some interesting shapes there

I was thinking something more along the lines of a single cut LP type shape with PRS conrtours. Although this is not set in stone, so suggestions are more than welcome.

Not in a hurry to make any decisions about finish. The slab is African Mahogany and I'm curious to see what the grain looks like after I get the body shaped. Not to mention, cutting and shaping a body is one thing, but laminate finishes is a totally different animal!

Not sure about the whole photo chorinicle thing Russian. Not that I mind but the electric CBG thread drew so little interest it hardly seems worth the effort. We'll see how that goes.

And of course, as Hop has pointed out. One piece is the only way to go! 8)

I've found that tinypic is easiest for posting pics, you don't need to register, create an account or anything- just upload your pic and copy/paste the code.

Ah Sapelle, the flame may easily get hidden.

I was interested in the CBG and hoping to see more, those tuners cant be far off can they? As you know my quest for a metal oil can somehere on this island continues. I had the idea of making a reversed tele neck to go on it. Kind of a Billy Gibbons tribute.

Yeah, Sapelle. You obviously know your wood!

I will no doubt finish the CBG thread. Cant say how far out the tuners are as I've yet to hear word from our favorite WD distributer, but i am confident that he has done all he could to expedite the process.

In the mean time I have a smaller block from the same slab that needs to be worked into a tone block for the CBG. I plan to do that tomorrow and will post pics before the box is closed (for the final time) and a rear route becomes the only means for access.

Are you going to do a one piece body with that billet? or are you going to cap it like a Les paul?

Your build thread will be a hit. Do you remember Ceri's thread last year? It was quite a few pages and his was not from scratch.
Ceri did a first class job of pictures and detailed explanations of the process. Just like a how to book! 8)

For now the plan is for a slightly arched top, one piece (no cap). It will be much thinner than a LP (for weight purposes).

Not to worry Hop, if the build turns out to not be thread worthy. The step by step will be available for those who truely want to see it.

So do you think it is Sepele Niki? It looks way too dark for African Mahogony though it should be red orange.

Go back and look at Ceri's and follow his example and it will be a great thread! :)
I've got faith in your abilities!
