Hi to all, its been awhile, I know, but I got divorced, had to move, and now I'm all settled, (at least I got full custody of the Fender Gear)
This is really a subject for all Fender products, but, here it is anyway,
I have a '57 RI Stratocaster I bought in 1987, a '65 RI Twin Reverb, I got in 1999, and a Champ 12 I got in 1989. I don't know whether its the acoustics of the new house, or what, but tonight, I have a new found love for my Fender setup, Eric Clapton never sounded so good, (sorry EC)
I'd like to invite everyone to share their gear, and stories about the fantastic sound that is... FENDER

Congrats on having your soul in order, Brett. Best wishes for great things coming.

Please see writer's recent thread on surrendering to the Fender vibe / culture. Yes, they do indeed make some serious "happiness machines."

Hey Brett, congratulations on the divorce.

My own fender experience started during and because of, my divorce. I'd sold all my old gear to pay for the wedding (dean, charvel superstrats, couple o plexi heads and a load of rack gear). Luckily the marriage wasnt that long (11months. She wanted to be a kept woman and i wouldnt put up with her not working). Anyway she ran off, during the adjustment period a old bandmate bought me a cheap £50 hohner strat copy after seeing me gear and womanless. Despite never wanting a strat (they always seemed far too basic to me) i fell in love with this thing. It was impossible to tune. The neck was so warped your hand rotated as you got further towards the nut. The singlecoil sound utterly captivated me though. I got myself back on my feet, got back to work. The first tax rebate i got HM inland revenue and customs treated me to a new strat and a marshall combo.
Its been that way for 14 years now.

It cost me a £11k to marry her, a house to be rid of her. A paltry sum for the priveledge of never seeing her again and finding a guitar i'm truely happy with.
