Ok I have kind of asked this question before but the problem still plagues me.

Right I have a newish am std strat and when I bend the top e sting at the 15th or 16th fret anything more than a 1/2 step bend and the note frets out. So I have tried:

New strings both 9's and 10's
raising the string height even to the point where the top e is higher than the b on the saddles
cleaning the frets
increasing and decrasing the 2 point trem height via back screws

WTF!!! this is so frustrating.

Seems as though the only thing left to do is to have the frets dressed from the 15th down but surely this should not be neccessary on a fender less than a year old!!

Help me if you can, cheers

They sound like they simply need leveling(dressing). A good tech can give you what you want.Sometimes this $@!& happens. No big deal. 8) Mike

Check your neck...look down it and it should have a slight concave bow in it to the front of the guitar. If it is straight or bent backwards, that can cause the notes to fret out. If you do not you know how to re-set the neck, take it to the shop. I personally do not mess with the truss rod, that is the only thing I take my guitar into the shop for. If you have to take it to the shop, go ahead and have them do a complete set-up, just to get it back into working order. Good luck and I hope you can get you issues resolved soon.

This is no big deal and happens a lot when someone hase a favorite posistion they might spend a lot of time in. I have had this happen and taken the guitar home with me and I have had it where I have had to leave it. Since it is a rather new guitar I would doubt you would need anything but a few frets leveled.

You might have a high fret. Use a small sraightedge to find it. Get out a dead blow hammer and smack it back down. Had to do that with my Mexy.

What's the neck radius? Common to find re-issue/vintage strats with a 7.25" radius.

When the neck is that tightly curved, fretting out is a very common problem indeed. When Leo originally designed the Strat, players didn't generally go in for extreme string bending that is the norm today.
