So the Road Worn Strats have jumbo frets? I don't think they were using jumbo frets back in the 50's and 60's. I think it's a good idea though but I'm curious as to why Fender elected to stray from a total vintage approach.

Fender goes for 'vintage vibe".

In this case, the guitar's necks have a 7.25 radius and a profile typical of the year, but likely compensated for by the narrow jumbo fret wire to facilitate bending which is more difficult on a neck of said radius with vintage wire.

Contemporary necks in the Fender line are more often 9.5 or 12

Doc

Always been like that.
'57 AVRIs have such color options they really didn't offer back in 1957 either. Classic Player 50s and 60s Strats have 2-point modern tremolo unit... didn't happen in 50s or 60s in reality :)

Maybe it's to imitate a neck where the frets were worn out. It needed a fret job through the years, and it had a neck radius tweak also. Heck didn't EJ do it to his vintage strat?

I guess he did... at least he has 12" radius on 50s Strat. Also the neck profile is slightly different. Who knows what's being made for those old ones :)
