That other thread about non-Strat playing guitar heroes made me want to see pictures of some of them playing Strats. To start things off, here's the guy we usually see playing a Gold Top, Mr. Dickey Betts:

Extra Bonus points for Knowing Dickey's actual first name.

... and here's his old partner in crime, best known for a nice flamey Les Paul (or even an SG):

And another, Mr. Page, not usually thought of as a Strat player:

I'm doing just fine, vinny. Thanks for asking.

Did you know that Peter Green played Strats a lot? I guess after selling his Sunburst Les Paul to Gary Moore, what else did he have left to play?!?

Not known for playing Fender but here's Kirk Hammett, with a beauty:

I hear this guy even played a Strat from time to time. (I gotta keep googling for a pic of that!)

You know, the upper fret access on that guitar must have been pretty lousy since it only has one cutaway which doesn't help any when the guitar is upside down.

Right. I'm thinking he compensated somehow! :D

O.O

The last Greeny interview i read he's not playing strats. He sometimes plays an esquire. He mainly plays localy made (switzerland where he lives now) single pickup guitars, just a pickup and a output jack. Saying (your gonna love this) the electrics interfere less with the tone of the guitar.

If you follow the documentary through youtube its quite apparent that he's still a bit poorly.

(around 4 minutes the willie dixon cover 'need your love so bad' played on a strat, as was 'albatross' too. A friend at the recording session told me).
Shame for the bloke, the only guitarist i've ever wanted to hear for more than 4 minutes.

Kirk looks like his Strat has made him go weak at the knees... unless that's a heat mirage brought about by wearing a black ensemble in the desert... :)

(This post has been completely edited - because changes further up the thread made what was here before redundant.)

There's a strange anti-Joe Bonamassa thing going on at present, as if someone had claimed he was the Guitar Messiah and it seems necessary to prove he isn't. So to show support for a player I enjoy, here's Joe on his gold flake Strat (mostly an LP player, these days):

Cheers - C

Thanks Ceri, I added another (above) as well. The hosting site might have a limit on the number of downloads.

Here's another guy not normally seen playing a Strat, Warren Haynes
