Okay, I finally picked up my CP 50's from layaway and it still had the "CP 50's" label, listing main features, on the pickguard. So, I removed the label and there's the image of the label on the pickguard. So, I figured, okay maybe it'll come off with the pickguard protective plastic... no, it couldn't be that easy -- the image is still there.

I know this was discussed in another thread but I couldn't find it via the search thing so, is there a solution other than replacing the pickguard?

By the way, I am THRILLED with the guitar. The pickups and switching combinations are just what I was looking for... The neck feels great and, well, I just like everything about the guitar... except that label imprint...As soon as I get this label thing corrected, I'll post pictures...

Did you take the protective film off the pickguard?

Yeah, I removed the protective film and thought that would take care of it. But it didn't. The image of the label is still there... The guitar was manufactured in '06 so the label was on there for awhile....

I also fear that you may have to change the pickguard if the spot is that noticeable.

I kinda figured replacing the pickguard was the only good fix. I considered using some light duty rubbing compound, then polish to see if that would take care of it ...

Since I bought the guitar new, I'll stop by today and see if they'll replace it or at least give me a new pickguard and I'll replace it.. not a big deal... No way I returning the guitar for a replacement though -- :) This one picked me out..

One other question -- I like the single ply pickguard more than I thought I would and it is vintage-looking. But, I'm considering replacing it with the 4-ply tortoise shell pickguard Fender makes with the 8 hole pattern. (Wish Fender offered an 8-hole, 3-ply pickguard.) I figure there'd be less chance of warping with the 4-ply... Do you need longer screws to attach a 4-ply pickguard as compared to a single ply pickguard?
