Is it just me or does the the two-point tremelo have a narrower string spread causing the strings not to line up with the pickup poles on the neck pickup?

Does it affect the tone?

Yep, it's normal. The low-dollar vintage style bridges are the same way. It sucks, but Fender evidently thinks it makes no difference.

I fully believe that it does affect the tone alittle on the neck pickup. But I don't think it's enough to hear it, or worry about it for that matter. The only problem is the string spacing itself, if you start on narrow spacing, or go from american to the narrow, then it feels awkward, to me anyway. I sometimes found that I was getting tangled up in the strings while playing. I fixed mine by tilting the saddles from side to side, to spread the spacing out to where it's supposed to be (strings lining up with the neck pickup). I also cut a new nut to help with the spreading process.
