Hi. I have a Strat Ultra with the blue-gold-double red lace sensor pickups. Does anyone know the neck shape and radius? Also, what have you done to increase sustain/saturated distortion?
Thank you all.

Hi, dkelban, and welcome to the forums —

I have an Ultra as well, just back from a bit of maintenance at the shop and playing better than ever. As far as I know, they all have ebony fretboards with a 9.5" radius on a modern shallow C-shaped neck with satin finish.

As far as increasing sustain goes... I'm not sure if you're asking about modifications to the guitar, or other factors such as amp and effects. I've left my guitar completely stock — there really is nothing much I'd change about the Ultra. My "saturated distortion" comes courtesy of a Mesa/Boogie V-Twin preamp pedal, the most humorously indestructible distortion box ever. When I want to experiment with different flavours of gain, I switch between 12AX7s, 12AT7s and 12AU7s in the V-Twin. The twin tubes are easy to pop in and out on this particular stomp box. 8)

Thanks for your advice. I use a peavey classic 30/112: great for sustain. I was thinking mainly if you'd experimented with different pickups.

Try adjusting your pickups up and down first. Just a thought. For me lower is better. 8) Mike

That's true — it's often said that Lace sensors should be as close to the strings as possible without the strings actually buzzing against them. It's certainly easy to try it out.

If you haven't already encountered Xhefri's Guitars... well, you have now! When it comes to modifications for Strat Plus, Plus Deluxe and Ultra models there is nobody else.

Thanks again for previous feedback. Anyone try switching pickups, and does anyone know the neck shape and radius.
