Congrats on the guitar. Personal feeling about the American Deluxe is, it's too nice to be a Fender, let alone a Stratocaster.

Likely one of the truly outstanding production guitars around.

Personal recommendation; find a truly hotshot tech and have them do the do, a slick and big setup, including your fave strings. Here, it's Third Coast Guitars in Chicago, highest recommendations.

yo i have a deluxe as well its great ..ive had a ibenez roadstar strat copy for years and as it was as good as any fender USA i was happy with it,but after 20 odd years its starting to wear so i needed to go easy on the old girl,so i tried a few fenders out.. man they have improved since the 80s anyways the delulxe sunburst impressed me ..2nd hand nearly 10 years old but like new ...actually it feels too new and scrath free for me to be comfortable, my other axes i.e bc rich gunslinger and roadstar look hammered like relics but done the honest and hard way....mind you if you are in your 50s i guess you are not going to live too long to relic your own guitars LOL
