Congrats! I just bought an American Deluxe Sunburst about two weeks ago and I'm lovin' it. It's something I've wanted since I was thirteen years old and believe me that wasn't yesterday. Still goin' through the "set-up blues" right now but the guys at the shop where I bought it are really bein' great.

I always wanted a strat with a maple fret board, and the first strat I bought was an american standard with a rosewood fretboard, so I went into the music store today and tries a Standard with a maple fretboard a tele, and a few others and the manager suggested that one. I'm glad I got something unique, (honey blonde) and not just a 3 tone sunburst or black like my other one.

Great guitar, congrats. If you take care of it, that can be the only guitar you'll ever need for life, in any situation up to a professional level.

One note though: don't be too quick to start making too many changes to it. A lot of guys want to start customizing it right off, changing parts, then end up wishing they left it alone, or just put it back the way it was originally. Take time to enjoy it just the way it is for a while.

I've had various strats and have customized all of them, and I love them. But, looking back, I also would be totally happy leaving them all stock.

You are going to make us wait one month for pictures??? Great.... :)

You have got me thinking about a V neck strat. I just got my first strat (sorry everyone I can't stop talking about it), the Jeff Beck model with the C neck. I am starting to get itchy for a vintage reissue V neck. Does this happen once you get the first strat?

Well done on the purchase, stay busy and september will fly by.

PS: Don't worry about Dad, wait until you have a wife to answer to :x

There seems to be some sort of American Deluxe/American Standard Voodoo on this forum. Lots of people have purchased these two particular models. Maybe they like the more modern look and features.

I prefer the vintage look myself.

No I bought this guitar because of all of the nice stock features like the V neck noiseless pickups( which seem to be hotter than me american standard) the lock tuners, I sort of wish it had the rolling nut, but I can live without it.

Something to think about: It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to beg for permission.
