Just bought a Fender American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster. Tried a million of them, but loved the Ash body. Seemed to sound sweeter to me than the alder. Plus the wood grain is to die for. Tobacco Sunburst, Rosewood fretboard, Mint green pick guard. Some say it's girly lookin. I say who cares. If girls like it, that's the point right? Anyways, I do have a question. What experience do you have with the ash deluxe, comments opinions, good choice?, etc. Also I have a YCV40 Traynor all tube amp I play with. Great amp, but not much for drive, clean is absolutly fantastic. Looking to spruce it up with some pedals. Play blues and classic rock. Have a RP250 but don't like it. Sounds to digital and cuts out signal. Any stomp box opinions out there to add some classic blues and rock sounds to my great combo? By the way, first post for me. Go easy. Love reading your posts, learning more everyday.

Welcome and congrats with your guitar.
Ibanez TS808 overdrive or TS9.
Boss overdrive.
Marshall bluesbreaker overdrive.

Love the sound of ash strats, they tend to be briter then alder.A good pedal to go with is the big muff by electro-harmonix and a de7 delay echo from ibanez.

The Big Muff is a very nice distortion/sustainer for lead guitar.
Jimi Hendrix and Santana used one, but a bit over the top for blues and
classic rock.

I like the ''Fuzz Face'' and the ''Vox ToneBender'' because they clean up
nicely when using the volume knob on the guitar.
Once owned a ''Big Muff'', sounded great but didn't clean up well.

I've read that Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck used the tonebender in the '70s.

I use a Fuzz Face clone (Fulltone '69 Pedal).
Using the guitar's volume control and picking pressure I can go from a clean sound to an overdriven sound to wild fuzz.
If fact, when I use it in a song, I generally leave it on for the whole song, even clean rhythm parts.

I suggest a Boss Blues Driver or one of the Ibanez Tube Screamers. It's hard to go wrong with a TS9.
