I need a new neck for my strat because the one thats on it right now sucks. It belonged to another strat with a floyd but the locking nut was removed and covered up (I didn't do this)

Where do you guys get your necks from? I checked warmoth and they look very nice but also very expensive. I don't have that kind of money. I work for a living

I checked eBay but its always hard to tell if they're any good

Thanks

You can try ebay or craigslist for a Fender neck. If you do not care about a loge...Warmoth makes a really good replacement neck. I loved mine.

I've been playing for over 25 years, and I've never bought a neck, let alone a lot of them.

I've known people that have, and have gotten them used from ebay, craigs list; new from the manufacturer or from warmoth.

You might try USA Guitars.:

I've heard good things about them, though I have yet to purchase from them. Depending on which style you pick they can be a little less pricey than warmoth.

I am with you dgonz, in fact body wise it is one of the main reason I buy a guitar. Thats got to be one of the most horrible things that could happen breaking a neck.

I don't think I'd ever buy a guitar unless I loved the whole thing. Pickups, I'm not so strict about. But body and neck, if they're not both 110% perfect there's no point in bothering for me.

Fender guitars are the Chevy 350 ci. V8 of the guitar world. You can replace any part on it easily. Fender, Allparts, Warmoth, Mighty Mite, etc. are all options. Look online and find something in your price range(Warmoth = High, Mighty Mite = low). I would not turn down a cool fender Strat for a good price just because the neck was not perfect. And besides, most of us like building our own Strats from parts, which is a great way to get a custom guitar without the CS pricetag.

Warmoth is pretty awesome. Just ordered a semi-hollow strat body from them, glad I checked this thread:D

Thinline Stratocaster shall be built now.

I recently purchased a mighty mite replacement neck off ebay for my next partscaster project, I haven't set it up yet but I'm thinking about grabbing a nice warmoth birdseye maple neck, the mighty mite is kind of so so quality, and I love the clapton artist series necks, but I'm not shelling out $800+ for one from reliablefender, just my 2 cents...goodluck with the hunt!!

If I were putting a complete guitar together, I'd be fine with other brand parts. I've thought about getting a full custom Warmoth guitar before, and might some day.

But either of my Fender strats - with a neck other than a true Fender, it wouldn't be a strat to me. I'd hate playing it, looking at that generic neck, and it would lose have its soul without a real Fender neck. That's just me though...

I was that way with my previous Squier that I put a Warmoth neck on (long story). I thought I was playing something less than a Squier, so I so I used it on a trade in for a different guitar. But soon after I traded it I had regrets. It was always one of my favorite guitars, it was awesome both before and after the neck accident. That Warmoth neck was best neck I have ever played on to this day. I actually had to buy a Fender to get that guitar out of my head, and get rid of the guitar I orginally traded.
