I'm looking to black out my Strat and was wondering if the Fender Locking Tuners (the ones with the F on the bottom) come in Black. I believe they are Schaler with the F logo on them. But anyway, can I get them in black?

And can I get a string tree in black as well?

Fender doesnt actually make tuners. They private label them from a couple different manufacturers.

The locking tuners are manufactured by Schaller, including the popular Fender "F" locking tuners.

Unfortunately, I dont believe they make the Fender "F" locking tuners any more, much less in black. But there are Schaller locking tuners available in black.

There are lots of black locking tuners around...

It's a good idea to make sure things fit.

Drilling holes is a lot better than trying to force a screw where there isn't one. I've seen too many pictures of split headstocks where the pilot holes weren't right.

Sure. Be careful thought. Not all tuners automaticaly fit right into the holes on your neck headstock.

Some tuners mount differently and/or have different size pegs. Not all Fender neck/headstocks are drilled to occomodate the same tuners.

So make sure the ones you buy fit your guitar. Otherwise you may need to drill some holes, which I dont recommend.

How can I find out if they fit or not prior to buying them? I was thinking the locking schallers since they are the same as the ones Fender puts the F on. I'd like a direct slip in replacement instead of having to drill and open up the mounting hole.

In the Fender video I watched on YouTube I remember the man saying Fender makes all it's own parts.

Does anyone know of a Direct Fit set of Black locking tuners for Strats?

One that I can go buy and just drop right in and go without any modification?

The Jim Root Telecaster has black locking tuners, probably Schallers. Someone makes them for Fender, and usually Fender will sell replacement parts for current production guitars. check the website or find a Fender authorized dealer who will look through the catalog for them.

Note at the bottom of the ad copy, they have a part number for black.

one caveat is, I think these tuners have only one alignment pin. the fender/schallers have two. i believe that the one pin will fit in one of the holes for the fender/schaller ones, without any modification, and that it is in the right spot to assure alignment. but you may want to contact the vendor (or better yet, the manufacturer,) and find out for sure before ordering.

Nice find. That will work nicely. Thank you!

Good advice all around just get the right ones drilling will decrease the value of your ax if it is original which it must be or you would not care.
