I would like to get an opinion from the forum members..Im building a Floyd Rose Strat..I already have a Lace Sensor Red/Silver dually installed in the bridge i just bought a used Gold for the mid and i can't decide which Lace Sensor to use for the neck...I have been thinking about staying with the ultra configuration and using a blue in the neck since the other pickups are real close to what an early H.S.S ultra used ..Im pretty sure the original ultra used a red/red in the bridge instead of a red /silver..But i have also been told they used the red/silver also..I know they used the Gold in the middle and blue in the neck for the late 80's models.
I have also had thoughts of using a Hot Gold in the neck also. The others ive thought about is a purple or light blue...I'm wanting to use this guitar as my rocker..I'm building this guitar for heavier classic rock like Montrose and some modern hard rock.Think 80's hairband stuff..Motley Crew,Maiden,Whitesnake,Quiet Riot you get the picture. So please help me decide..If i was pushed to only pick two to decide from it would be the original Blue and the Hot Gold ..I would like to hear what your ideas are..

I've played with Blue, Silver and Golds on my strat. Quick notes...

Gold
- nice, more vintage, but I didn't use it for long.

Silver
- my favorite in the middle position. nice and thick, and has a great growl when played with mid gain on the lower strings. My favorite pickup for the middle position. I bought another to try it in the bridge position. Didn't like it there at all. Sounded to muddy to me.

Blue
- loud. great for neck position. i can get a great SRV howl with this in the neck. nice and thick tone

My bridge has a seymour duncan jb jr single sized humbucker. i can get single tones or run it full humbucker for great les paul type tones.

All these can handle any gain my mesa boogie can throw at them and sound great doing it

i have the hot gold series on my strat with the high output bridge, and i love them, i would say go for either the gold or hot gold.

I've got a Gold in the neck (1989 strat plus). Blue is more traditional. I have a blue in the bridge. Depends on how much output you like. I like to push things over the edge and have thought about putting in 3 reds on my other MIA strat. The gold has great warmth but I would like a little more. I'd say either blue or red.
