I recently switched to 010s on my strats and I went with GHS boomers. I am very pleasantly surprised at my ability to bend these strings. I thought it was going to be more difficult. I could not offer a comparison to other brands though as this is my first foray into 010s. It also doesn't hurt to play at least an hour a day ;-).

(I haven't tried them on my Ibanez AF95 yet.)

But I used Ernie Balls.

I found Boomers feel cleaner on my fingers, sound brighter, and last longer.

do they seem as easy to bend as the Ernie balls?

Yes, maybe more easily--and I have been known to do too much bending when playing solos, leads or melodies.

In any case, they don't cost too much--so buy a set and try them out--if you don't like them--change back.

that is exactly what I did. I picked em up last night. I'll string em up later today and give her a test run.

Some of you have better ears than me. I use nickle wound strings in 9 or 10 guage, and notice little to no difference between brands. I have used mostly ernie balls due to being a known brand. But I have also picked unknown brand name strings in my guage from the close out bin and was happy.

I will tell you that I have had no problems with breakage with ernie balls. When I used DAddario, I seemed to have problems with breakage. Maybe they are better now? I stayed away from them since then. Dean Markley's are good, but generally cost more so I stayed away.

i also used Elixr strings for awhile and was happy, even though I could hear a difference when they were new (not a bright as other new strings), but as they wore, they held their tone longer, so it was a wash to me since I don't change as often as I should.

All the differences in tone were subtle to me and my most important criteria when I buys strings is getting the proper guage

Well I just put em on. So far so good. They do seem to have more tension on them then the EB's. They do have a brighter tone. As far as bending, they seem to be almost as easy as the EB's. But I do think the EB's are a little easier for me to bend. I'll see how they turn out after a playing them a bit. See if they loosen up some.

So far I like the sound better of the Boomers and the feel of the EB's. Hopefully after playing them in a bit that will change. If they end up as comfortable to play as my EB's I think I've found new strings to use.
:)
