I just wanted to express my appreciation for this Forum and everyone on here. I've been asking a bunch of questions on Strats lately and it is a great feeling to be able to come here and know I will get the answers I'm looking for.

There doesn't exist a better source of info on Strats then right here!

Thank you all!

Well. That helped us not to get carried away with the emotion of the moment!

Hi Scot: when I was starting out I had a guy around who should have been ideal to help with all my questions. Unfortunately, he was one of those people who tries hard to make you feel an idiot for asking - so mostly I didn't. Meant everything took much longer.

Luckily, most people round here are not like that. Makes it nice, don't it?

Stick around, man. :)

Cheers - C

sure does. It's also nice to get an honest opinion that is NOT based on what is in stock and what the manager told the sales guy to "push" this week

I agree with Ceri. I too had people who felt like gatekeepers and would only dole out info in such a way as to make you feel a fool, or make you almost beg, so they could feel smarter.

A little later, I became friends with someone whose older brother worked with many of the greats. A few of whom we talk about on these forums almost daily. It opened up a wealth of knowledge to me. Funny, the guys who know the most, and whose livelyhood depend on that knowledge are usually pretty eager to teach.

It was a life's lesson i try to take to heart. if I can share something i know to help, i will try. I also will be a sponge in collecting other people's wisdom.

On the other hand, BigJay is right. you owe us all lunch, you need to fly all of us to where you live, and take us out on the town.

I too have found good advice, great laughs, knowledgeable people eager to share their experience, and really good guitar porn....I hope you stick around Scot and get to know everyone... Just watch out for the members of the 2 or 3 club

Ha! Gatekeepers - that's such a perfect word for it!

And strangely, we're not impressed by that stuff the way they think. The people who give freely are the ones we rate.

Cheers - C

heh my experience, though yours may differ, has been the more they make you sweat it out, the more likely it is they are flat out wrong too.

Alot of knowledgable people here. You have musicians , amp builders , guitar builders and everything in between.I like the Gatekeepers reference. Most everyone here is cool, some people like to use knowledge as power to make them feel big, but most people here are just regular people willing to give solid advice.
