Hey Guys,

What's going on here the past few days? It seems like a growing flock of vultures is circling overhead just waiting to pounce on fresh meat and tear it apart. And some that aren't being the vultures are most certainly acting like a bunch of crows sitting on the fence egging the others on.

I've been lurking around her for the past 6 months after retiring from the US Air Force. I've had a goal for the past 30 years to pick up a guitar and play, and it's the first thing I did post-retirement.

The second thing I did was find this forum, because I had a lot to learn. I've thoroughly enjoyed the things I've learned from the various pro's on the board concerning a wide variety of things. I've shook my head at a few of the internet bully "experts" and chuckled at some of the "younger" guys that obviously have a lot of passion, but maybe lack a bit in the common sense department.

But mostly I've enjoyed getting to know a bunch of guys from literally around the world, that all share the same passion for the most awesome guitars in the world.

But it seems like the past few days there has been a marked increase in "Ready, fire, aim" with several members acting a bit hasty to prove another member wrong, or to call them on something they've done, or trying to win a pissing contest with a know-it-all. It's got to the point where I'm about ready to call it a day and go elsewhere, and I really don't want to do that.

The thread on VinnyPop and Lonely Boy has got to be the most entertaining thing I've ever read on a forum, and I was there from the first post. I hate to see the vultures and crows start to tear it up. Ya know, Vinny is one of a kind. He certainly acts from his heart (and his head usually catches up fairly quickly), so how about everybody just lay off for awhile?

There's maybe a bit too quick of a rush from some to call foul on the honesty, motive or ideas of another with what they post or say. And maybe take a second look at a guitar before calling somebodys motive for showing something to the rest of us?

How's about we all just play nice for awhile, so I (we) can get back to the business of enjoying the worlds greatest guitars and some of the greatest people around the globe?

Peace y'all. I'm going to get another hour in trying to learn the minor pentatonic scale before bed.

Something doesn't look quite right about that particular order.. HE'S A FAKE!! I smell a fraud!! see the way the aim is after the fire? They didn't make that in 1962. The aim was before the fire. This guy is running a scam. I think I saw him under a different name a month ago. It was only made in that order on Vietnamese copies!! Looks like he took a belt sander to it and changed the order!

Hahahaha... JOKING man! I'm just joking. :D

Hi RickyD, welcome to the Forum (far as posting is concerned).

Some would think that a risky first post. But a good one!

Fine points, well made. Look forward to hearing more from you!

Cheers - C

EDIT: The above written before catching up on the last few pages of the Lonely Boy thread. Wow - things have certainly taken a turn, haven't they? Walk away, is the only possible course on that one...

i was thinking the same thing last few days!

I have seen really good forums go down cause of flamers (no sexual orientation implyed) i have left the best sight i ever participated in "national match.com because of pissin matches that diverted threads a million mile off subject.

Dont get me wrong i know there is sometimes cause for putting someone in there place but this is something that needs to be done face to face. The problem with the internet is people dont have to have the same manners as face to face. some of the crap people spew would get their teeth knocked in for themselves if they said it face to face. the annonymous posting requires much more restraint and civility. just like mom said - nothing nice to say? dont say it at all. You think thats silly - try it and see how much nicer people treat you.

so when you see garbage let i go and ignore them they will soon go away a well.

Thankyou RickyD and pleased to meet you. I appologise to all here on this blessed thread and have reworded the Lonely Boy ebay ad to read exactly what the guitar reveals and not including what experts here think. I want to come back and hope people and MT FRIENDS accept me back, thanks
Vinny Pop

What guitar do you play RickyD ?

Atta Boy, Vinny! I miss not being around my Oz and Brit mates from my Air Force days. We can all have some bad days. Lets just have fun together and work on guitars, girls and world peace! :P

I actually started my collection several years prior to playing. I just needed the time to be able to sit down, catch my breath and learn some music. I've got several Teles - a souped up MIM and a Deluxe Nashville; several Strats - MIMs to include a Classic Series '50s, 2 Squiers - a Venus and a '51 and my favorite - a MIJ Mustang. I've also got a MIM P-Bass and my first bass lesson is this afternoon. 8)

I'll let you know how it goes. Hey - 4 strings instead of 6 - it's got to be easier!

Rick

Thats an awesome collection RickyD, your heart at learning is in the right place and Im sure you will do well just take the lessons easy and dont be too hard on yourself. I saw a beautiful squire today aged white in a hock shop in great nick for 139 Aud and I think I can get it to maybe 120 so I will go tommorrow and try and score it. I LOVE talking about music babes beer and anything not too technical hahahahahhahaha
