Ive got 99-98 Mexi Strat. I love how it feels BUT everything else sucks. What do you guys think of putting this in it:

Fender Fat 50s Strat Pickups

Fender 62 Reissue Strat Tremelo Bridge

Fender Deluxe Locking Machine Heads

I know its kind of a mish mosh.... ignore that. Id like to stick with fender parts so if anyone has any suggestions Im all ears.

Sounds like a great set up to me. I would also spring for the '62 pickguard and matching '62 pickguard shielding for vintage vibe and noise reduction.

Is there anything else you can recommend? Is there anything else I can do to make it more... american? authentic? I was looking on musicians friend and didnt see what you were talking about... or didnt know I saw it. Would you mind linking me to it?

I was also considering:

(btw its a white blondeish color w. maple neck)

--aged white accessory kit (knobs, bridge cavity cover, pickup covers)

--Tortise shell pickguard... I want something either vintage RI or kinda tradtitional.

-Thinking about a 3 way pickup selector. How does that work on a strat?

Sounds good to me. I tried to keep my Stratocaster all Fender, but in the end I ended up with 1 piece not Fender made. Welcome to the Forum and I would love to se pics when you are done.

I go to Photobucket.com. I opened an account. Load your pictures there. Once loaded you hover the pic and a dropdown box comes up. Go to the IMG box and copy the text there and paste it to the Fender board. Preview the post to see if you image is there.

Do you think I can get a grungy tone out of it with those specs?

Ill be playing blues and grunge mostly... maybe a little jazz.

First, welcome to the board.

Well, the pickups are a definite straight forward swap. By the way, how are the pots?

As far as the Fender reissue '62 vintage trem goes, I'm not sure if it will work. I think the string and screw spacing is different. Could you live with maybe a better trem block? If so, maybe Callaham or GFS might have one for you.

The Fender locking machine heads have two pins that go into the back of the neck. I'm not sure if the one you have has the holes in the back of the neck. If it does, then no problem. If it doesn't have the holes then a drill and a little work will be needed.

Best of look and let us know how it comes out!

The 3 way switch only offers you 3 out of the 5 selections on a 5 way switch.

There is no advantage to using a 3 way switch. The 3 stops on it correspond to positions 1 - 3 - 5 on a 5 way, but the 5 way switch was introduced because guys were jamming a toothpick in, so they could stop and secure the switch in between those positions, in order to have combinations of pickups turned on. that's what the stops at positions 2 and 4 are. And some would say the quack sound you get from them in a large part defines the stratocaster sound.

Callaham makes bridges that will fit just fine on a Mexican Strat and they're better than Fender bridges.

Basically, I need some guidance through chosing bridges... cause I dont really know what to look for.

I have a 1991 MIM Standard (well it was standard once!) IMHO I would leave the trem top plate and saddles and put a high mass block in.
I have the full set of Clapton electrics (properly routed into body and scary wiring), sublime sound and soo versatile. You cannot go wrong with locking tuners (I have Sperzels, and it just won't go out of tune) and I have just swapped the parchment plastics I bought to a tortoise pickguard and aged knobs etc. I now think it looks really classy and encourage you to do the mods.
