here is a couple more pics I just took. Unfortunately they do not help much.The sunlight is kind of orange right now. I'm in Southern California about 10 miles from the fires right now. So the smoke is making the sunlight orange colored.

The color on this one is apparently called "Candy Cola" red. Looks similar to yours though I can't be sure.

Still looks CAR to me but as Alain said, very dark. Like its got a black undercoat rather than a metalic one. Please Scot, drop fender a email and ask them to check it out on your serial no'.

Alain is correct! It is a dark CAR. I went to a local guitar mega shop and asked the sales guy to pull one down that was the same color as mine. He verified that Fender is calling it CAR. He mentioned that this recent batch seemed to be much darker then the previous batches they have had.

Aloha All,

I just got the rebate from the Jay Group, Inc. who is Fender's contractor for this program. Musician's Friend gave me a supporting letter and Fender was all over it. The rebate form has some issues, like requiring a dealer's address and signature when so many dealers now sell over the internet, but at least Fender came through.

I've edited and deleted prior posts that have no longer represent the facts as I now know them and hope this clears the issue.
