Guys,

Update from Fender Customer Support. The issue was there rebate department (probably a contractor) barfed my first form because I didn't put a street address for Musician's Friend. Come on! For attempt 2 I found their corporate headquarters mailing address for bean counters and have an email response that I'll get the rebate now. Okay, my fault for not filling in a blank, still their fault for not stepping up to the realities of internet retail. When the rebate arrives, the case will be closed, but it looks positive now.

Yes, my new Fender Strat is a Special Edition with painted headstock. I' play with my church band and have gotten a lot of complements on the color. Even a few particularly sharp people have complemented the tone!

I bought it to mark a special event. I passed the Professional Engineer exam! It was an 8 hour, calculator intense, not for whimps test and the first time failure rate is high enough that I studied seriously for it. Now I guess I should get serious about music theory, right?

Aloha,
Tom

It worked just fine.

That's the Midnight Wine color, IIRC. See the currently offered colors at

The midnight wine on the link has more of a purple tint to it. Mine doesn't have that at all. Mine looks more like a red with black tint. Not that it matters. I don't care what color it's called. I just call it mine! :D

The dark red is going to make for a sick design once I lay some black over it! The black and red should blend together nicely!

Yes, the pictures on this web site do look purplelish --- more purpleish than the color looks in real life. I have a Midnight Wine body here and it looks like your pictures. It's a nice deep dark red/burgandy.

I looked at the ones in the store today and they looked purpleish in person. Mine doesn't. Weird

Congrats on the new guitar...As far as the midnight wine thing here is the deal on that...Fenders midnight wine changes as there vendor changes for paint ..For whatever reason there is also a huge difference between the older midnight wine and todays ..There is also a huge difference between midnight wine in Poly and midnight wine in Nitrocellulose..

Just got her home yesterday. Have not got around to it. I'm switching to a black pick guard anyway so I might just leave it on. Along with the plastic.

sorry guys, I don't have pics. But I just had to tell someone about my purchase.

She is a 09 Fender Standard HSS Stratocaster. I believe the color to be what the Fender color chart calls Frost Red. She is a very deep dark red color. About the same color as the dark red that is used opn this site. I never thought I'd buy a red of any shade colored guitar. But when I played her and heard how she sounded. She was perfect.

She was on sale for an amazing price. Which was why I bought her. I could not pass up the deal. Brand new 09 for half price? I thought something was wrong with her for that price so I played her, checked her out then decided to play 4 of her sisters just to make sure that I wasn't being biased because of the cost. She passed the test sounding better then 2 of the other 4 I tried and about the same as the other 2.

The color is like a deep dark brick or crimson colored red. Is anyone familier with that color? The only one that comes close on the color chart is the Frost red.

Cool! Muchas Congratulations. I'm sure you'll get years of play out of it.

Looks more like the candy apple red on that example list.
