sorry guys, I don't have pics. But I just had to tell someone about my purchase.

She is a 09 Fender Standard HSS Stratocaster. I believe the color to be what the Fender color chart calls Frost Red. She is a very deep dark red color. About the same color as the dark red that is used opn this site. I never thought I'd buy a red of any shade colored guitar. But when I played her and heard how she sounded. She was perfect.

She was on sale for an amazing price. Which was why I bought her. I could not pass up the deal. Brand new 09 for half price? I thought something was wrong with her for that price so I played her, checked her out then decided to play 4 of her sisters just to make sure that I wasn't being biased because of the cost. She passed the test sounding better then 2 of the other 4 I tried and about the same as the other 2.

The color is like a deep dark brick or crimson colored red. Is anyone familier with that color? The only one that comes close on the color chart is the Frost red.

Cool! I too bought a new Fender this summer. I got mine in early July by mail from "an internet" vendor (the big one on the block), but it's a Daphne blue American Standard Special Edition. I love the guitar but at first the Jay Group, Inc under contract to Fender rejected by request for the $100 rebate . I wrote to Fender and the "dealer" and they got the issue fixed. The check arrived 9/11. Rebates can cause issues, but Fender did stand behind theirs.

Love the guitar.

Love the guitar, not at all fond of the disrespect.
Is your paper work in order? The issues I have heard have all been online purchases, without a signed receipt. Not sure how to get that remedied, i would imagine you need to contact customer service at the online vendor.

Scot we need pictures. I can congratulate you (and I do,) now, but you won't get the shower of praise 'til we get to see it!!! (I'm not familiar with that colour, so i wanna see it, my eyes are greedy!!)

12bar,

Thanks for the response. The MF ad I purchased it from is still up at http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... sku=501917. Mine is the blue one. The unique thing is that the headstock is blue as well!

Yeah, you don't get a signed receipt from MF, but the form does have a check block for internet or catalog purchase and I did check it. If they don't accept internet purchases, why let MF advertise it and why put the check box on the form?

They covered themselves in all manner of exclusions and exemptions so I think they were baiting with the rebate but not really plannin to pay it. That's my opinion until customer service decides to respond to me.

Aloha,
Tom

Yup Photobucket.com

After you upload there, hover over the picture, and you'll get a list of tag options, choose the one that starts with a /img tag, bottom one i believe, copy and paste it into your post here.

To taweber, sorry to hear you are having trouble, did they give any reason why your purchase was ineligible? i have read where other people have received the rebate for an online purchase, so i hope it works out for you.

Thank you,

I was looking for a pick of my guitar with all blacked out parts and finally found it on the "pics of your strat" thread on page 90

mine ihas all white parts and I wanted to see what it would look like with all black parts so now that I found a pic of my guitar changed from white to black I think I'll be makeing the switch asap! I love the way it looks in black and red.

one question - I know I can change the pup covers on the 2 single coils. But on the humbucker is that top white part just a cover that can be changed to black as easy as a single coil can by simply changing the pup cover? Or is it attatched?

this is my first guitar with hss config so I don't know much about the humbuckers. (I know I love the sound now)

I don't think American Standards are available in Daphne Blue. That's more a Mexican color.

Unless it's an American Standard Special edition, the ones with the matched painted headstocks.
