I have a Strat with the truss rod nut next to the body.
I just changed to heavier gauge strings and need to adjust
the neck. Of course this wasn't obvious before I put the
strings on.... What is the best way to access the adjusting
nut? Without having taken anything apart yet I would have
to guess that either taking the pickguard (and electronics)
off, or take the neck off. Either way the strings have to
come back off it looks like. Or is there some 'secret' to
this? None of the information I've been able to find
describes anything outside of the adjustment itself. I have
two Mexican J Basses with the truss rod adjustment at
the headstock, so I'm not unfamiliar with adjusting the
neck.

Basically take the neck off. Or at least loosen the neck bolts (after slackening the strings) enough that you can sort of tilt the neck up enough to make the adjustment.

Malicious and Lost, thanks, that seems like
the best idea. Appreciate the reply. Bob
