Yes, a few more things! How comes the body thicknesses have changed over the years. And have the necks changed size/shape over the years also? Are there body and neck sizes/shapes and body contours that are more favoured than others? Once again thanks for the replies it's good to get feedback from people who know what their talking about.

Big secret, methinks.

Its highly unlikely fmic will share the exact dimensions of their 2nd best selling product with anyone.

I'm intrigued by what you said here, Nick. Surely the Strat is Fender's top seller, isn't it? If not, what is?

I'd have thought strings. Maybe they dont make as much money on them but surely they sell more units. I've been through 12 sets this year atleast and havent even worn one strat out. :D

Wait--you can change the strings? Here I've been buying a new guitar every time a string breaks!

Hi guitarest99 loved the pic unfortunately it won't be much use to me lol! For everyone with suspicioin i'll let you in on what i'm wanting to do. I want to design and build a guitar myself in my garage with a new design, new shape and new size. I want it to be original. If i can get plans of other beautiful guitars it will inspire me. Everyone has to start somewhere! I don't want to copy a Strat or a Les Paul or any other guitar in fact when i see people who do total copies it makes me feel like there is soo much blandness around and shows there is no imagination. I like the fact that people can find out what i'm up to so quickly ha ha its shows there is an actual community 8) thanks again everyone!

Wow I would have never thought I would have gotten this from the Fender Forum. Thank you so much; maybe its time we share thoughts and ideas. I have both brands and I know many there who also have both. It would be cool if we could some how join the two forums and get away from brand names and just be Musicians. So let this be a offer to those who have not been to the dark side (or the good side depending on your over all opinion of the forums) come on over and sit a spell.

Thanks

J

Oh yeah like a bunch of women sitting around and knitting on Sunday; you my friend are the current topic. With counterfeiting at a all time high; you really can't fault us for it either.

Obviously I'm not quite as clueless as I let on (close, but not quite). However, stranger things have happened. My niece has a Starcaster that she plays on occasion. She broke her B string a while back, and her mother (my sister) took the guitar to a local shop to get just that string replaced. The tech naturally wanted to change out all the strings, but my sister didn't want to get "ripped off" by changing strings that weren't broken.

Next time I get to Houston to see them, I intend to give the guitar a complete string change and adjust the intonation. 8)

Well hasnt this thread turned out to be a eye opener. A gibson mod posts, he's not seeking to cause trouble or any of that other rubbish that we suffered and is actualy being constructive.

Well done that man. Muchos kudos to you.

Racehorse i only ever used to change the broke string when i started out. I think it was 5 or 6 years before i changed a complete set.
