Hello everyone! Does anybody know where i can get an original or a genuine "reliable" Fender Stratocaster plan/ blueprint from with all of the dimensions and measurements?
Can i get them from Fender themselves or is it a BIG secret? Cheers Sam.

Big secret, methinks.

Its highly unlikely fmic will share the exact dimensions of their 2nd best selling product with anyone.

These guys will not only sell you a reasonably-priced set of plans for a STrat and other guitars, but they know EVERYTHING about building them.

'Course, if you own a Strat - well then the instrument is its own blueprint, isn't it? You just need some decent measuring tools - and away you go.

I'm intrigued by what you said here, Nick. Surely the Strat is Fender's top seller, isn't it? If not, what is?

I would like one too. Fender could leave off the dementions, but would it would look cool in a frame hanging up on a wall.

Why don't you just buy a Fender neck and a body and wire it and call it done?

I'd have thought strings. Maybe they dont make as much money on them but surely they sell more units. I've been through 12 sets this year atleast and havent even worn one strat out. :D

OK, then I will.

I have several Strats and have made careful measurements of them all, transfered to full size plans. You need to be aware that the crucial dimensions vary from one to another by significant amounts.

We all know that body thickness varies by three or four mil (maybe more on some?). And of course the pickup route has changed over the decades, even on SSS routes. Also the control cavity is different on '50s Strats from those that have pickguards with eleven holes.

Moreover, the shape and orientation of the jack socket cavity changes noticeably. And even more important, the dimensions on the front of the body of the trem block cavity change significantly as does the distance from the end of the neck pocket to the front of the trem cavity.

And of course the body contours have changed a little over the years (in the 1970s, a lot!).

The detailed point I'm making is that there is no such thing as a "master blueprint" for a Strat.

When Fender make significant changes to the design (new pickup route, for example) they make master templates in metal. Subordinate templates are taken from those (though these days guitar bodies are not cut direct from templates anymore). Here's a pic:

If you are interested in building - which I presume is the point of this thread - then you will certainly have the ability to take a Strat and derive plans and templates (like the one above) from it.

No plan you can buy will give you the ultimate set of measurements for a Strat - because there is no such thing.

Does that get you any further?

Cheers - C

It shouldn't be a big problem! Here you go:

That's an original bluprint with ALL dimensions, but it's in imperial units.
And HERE:
http://s_marek.republika.pl/andyguitar/ ... ction.html
are dimensions in meter units. I used it and:
