Is there any way we could get some more information? The first greens that come to mind are Surf Green, Foam Green, Sherwood Green and 7-Up Green (also known as Candy Apple Green), but there must be others. You wouldn't see 7-Up Green on a '62 (vintage or reissue), but it could be Surf, Foam or Sherwood (Blue/Green or a dark forest shade). Or maybe Teal Green... heh. How could I forget that..? my guitar is Teal Green.

Is it a metallic finish?

Anyway, welcome to the forums, and if there's any way you can post a picture it will be appreciated!

American Vintage 62's are available in Surf Green but not the other greens.

The "V" in the serial would indicate Vintage series. hmmmmmmmmm 62. I'' go have a look.

Maybe it's a vintage hot rod 62 in sherwood green metallic.

When you shine a light on the finish does it sparkle? If it does that's what it is.

that is a pretty rare color you have there, my friend. that is known as Sherwood Green Metallic. Fender used it on the normal '62RIs for a short period of time. they would also do it as a custom order. it now is featured on the Hot Rod '62RI Strat.

To get an exact date I believe you are going to have to pull the neck and compare neck and body dates. The other way is to contact Fender.

very good idea, fhopkins. It pays off. I'd say, judging by the serial, it is mid 90s/early 2000s. my '89 is V07, and his is V12, so that is a safe bet.
