OK, I give up. Can anyone tell me how to get the old string remnant out of the locked tuner? How do you unlock the stinkin' thing?! :? There are small holes on the back of the tuners, but all I can see in there are the gears. The generic manual doesn't address the vintage locking tuners at all. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Classic Player guitars have vintage keys, not locked.
You insert the string in the stringpost bend it 90 degrees and string up.
When removing the string it should just come out.
Never heard of this problem before.

Hello All,

Those tuners sure look mighty slick,
should I ever get an appropriate guitar{'62 hotrod}
I'll install em.

Thanks for the info.

Cheers.

I *highly* recommend this strat! (Classic Players 50s). It's my most recent acquisition and I couldn't be happier with the quality, the feel, and the tone. The nice little Custom Shop details perfectly complement the vintage strat. (I only play vintage or reissues.)

I did get lucky and found one for $800. Yes it's made in Mexico, but I'm finding that to be a plus.

I tried out two '62 Hot Rods, but both had neck issues - one had some bad frets and the other had a hump. I've never found an american strat that didn't have issues. Otoh, Every MIM strat or tele I bought or played seemed to be of very high quality. (Pickups being the exception.)

Anyway, definitely give the CP50s strat a try - it's a steal even at $1100 (street price).

Cheers,
Mark

Flathead screwdriver. Insert in top of the post, give it a twist in whichever direction loosens. The other way around for putting a new string in.
