I thought Hunter Thompson died...

Well - yes. And as you see from the poster, HST's campaign was in 1970.

I was invoking another occasion when a gentleman who had issues with police and such (as you described) stood for office, to the confusion of the people who bothered him. And Thompson's involvement with big motorcycles was also one of the things that those people found difficult to relate to with him.

I like Hunter S Thompson - I was making a friendly comparison.

Cheers - C

A very relevant connection.

I LOVE the works of Hunter S Thompson.

If you've never read anything by him, please visit your local library to check out "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and/or "The Great Shark Hunt."

Ha! Well that's a nice discovery, Orville!

You and Thompson have big bikes in common. I'm an outsider on that, but for some peculiar reason my dad handed me a copy of Hell's Angels at a remarkably tender age. Dunno why he thought I needed to read it - but I did!

Then moved on to Fear And Loathing In Las Vagas - and life was never the same again...

As for The Great Shark Hunt: when I was 20 I had my luggage with everything in it stolen on a railway station in the middle of India. I was left with my passport in my pocket and a copy of Shark Hunt under my arm. That book got me through the next six weeks in a way nothing else could have...!

RIP, HST.

Congrats on getting rid of annoying neighbors. Neighbors suck. They'll park 6 cars in the alley behind my building, but if one of my friends parks their car the police show up 15 minutes later and put a ticket on the windshield saying the neighbors called and complained about a car in the alley.

We get dirty looks for having a party and playing till 4 am (hey, it was a Saturday night.) But they have their 'Cervasa' parties with Rhumbas and Mariachi music in their backyards till the sun comes up,..........in the middle of the week.

Neighbors suck.

*though all the neighborhood kids love it when I crank the guitar, so maybe it's just the adults that suck.*

Oh and I have officially become old when I yelled at some kids to get out of my backyard/off my lawn.
