Just wanted to say hi and thanks for a cool site. I am a 53 yr. old 'cherry' who always wanted to play but never took the time. Now that the kids are all out of my house and semi on their own (still need the ol'guys cash occasionally) I got me a deluxe players Strat. I'm kickin' myself in the $@! for not doing it 40 years ago but at least I did it. I had a couple of Corts that refused to stay in tune and the 2nd one had frets that wouldn't stop buzzing no matter how many times I had it in for service. Traded that noisy piece of junk and $25 for the Strat , brand new with bag, strap, blah-blah-blah. Sapphire blue with gold hardware, it sure is purty. I just hope I live long enough to do it justice-I had a kinda "ill spent youth".

Hi olguy, and welcome to the forum! As a relative latecomer to the world of guitar myself (having started at the age of 43), I congratulate you on beginning your journey. There are tons of friendly and knowledgeable players on this forum, so don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. And most of all, have fun! 8)

Welcome Oleguy. Now we have Ole and Old and neither is really old. In truth at 53 Les Paul could have been your grandfather. Now thats Old and he could of blew any of us right off the forum bad hands and all. So age means nothing.Have a good time and ask away or put something up.

Welcome to the Forum and to the world of Fender. Never too old to start playing. I myself took a 9-ish year hiatus, and got back into it again a few years ago. I am still playing catch-up today. Love to see pics of the guitar, if you can. It really sounds nice.

Ah, you know what they say... youth is wasted on the young, etc, etc.

How many whippersnappers do you know who have recently traded a piece-'o'-crap plank and $25 for a Deluxe Player's Strat?! Yeah, you know a thing or two... heh. There are plenty of people around here who will help you with the rest. Welcome aboard! :)

Good luck with your new guitar Olguy and I've got you beat by 12 years. I just got my first Strat at the end of May this year. I haven't played in so long that I forgot how long it's been. I just wish that I had never sold my '65 Fender Super Reverb and my Candy Blue Pearl Mosrite guitar back then, but I needed the money with starting a family and all, so I figured I might as well sell what I don't use anymore. I bought a Yamaha electric guitar about 16 years ago and a little practice amp but hardly ever played it until this year. Then I bought a Peavey VYPYR 30 watt modeling amp and then I had to get a Strat.

Have Fun! :D :D
