HI I HAVE WHAT I BELIVE TO BE AN OLDER FENDER STRATOCASTER.I BOUGHT IT AT A THRIFT STORE SOME TIME BACK.I HAVE CHECKED FOR DATES AND SERIAL NUMBERS BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY AT ALL.THE ONLY ORIGINAL PARTS ARE THE BODY AND THE NECK,EVEYTHING ELSE HAS BEEN CHANGED.THE GUITAR WEIGHS 11 POUNDS.THE NECK IS MAPLE,THE HEAD STOCK SAYS FENDER STRATOCASTER ,UP HIGHER ON THE HEAD STOCK IN SMALL WRITING IT SAYS ORIGINAL CONTOURED BODY" PATTENTED".UNDER THE NAME FENDER THERE IS A NUMBER 6848-0302 THIS GUITAR PLAY GREAT AND SOUNDS GREAT.ANY INFO AT ALL WOULD BE HELPFULL. Welcome to the forum! Can you post some pictures of the guitar? Neck ,body, front and back. I'm sure someone on here can and will help you out.

Welcome, pics would be nice. The weight bothers me. Older strats may have weighed a little more than 8lbs because ash is a denser wood.But 11lbs is excessive. Early model strats usually had a serial no. on the neck plate. The earliest models in 54 had the serial no. engraved on the back of the tremelo cover. If the neck is genuine it may have a date written on the butt of the neck at the body but you will have to remove it to check.
