Before anyone suggest craigslist or Ebay, rest assured I have been scouring both for weeks.

I need a really cheap but straight neck. Idealy with tuners or atleast a nut, but will take just a neck.

If anyone has one just laying around or has some good (alternative) ideas as to where I may look for one please post links, email or any other info.

Again, I cant stress enough that CHEAP is the key word here.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

* If this is in any way not in compliance with the Fender forum rules of posting rest assured there will be no hard feelings for removing this thread.

There's an old adage that goes something like you have cheap, quality and speed (delivery)....pick one?

Mighty Mite is cheap, but you could get lucky?

How cheap is cheap?

Mighty Mite would be a good source, or bhefner.

I mean. "Hey, I have this old squire neck I threw in the closet the day after I took it off 13 years ago. Give me 20 bucks and shipping and its yours!" Cheap.

Doesnt need to be new. Nothing fancy. I dont mind dings, dents, burns, or scuffs as long as it plays true.

Umm, I dunno, but it might help if you said what type of guitar you need a neck for.

Thats the best part! As long as its a neck for an electric thats all that matters.

I'm attempting a project thats not likely to work out the first few tries, so I dont want to invest much in parts the first few go rounds.

If it helps any, the neck will not be modified in any way shape or form.

OK. First let me say I have no neck  but there are many on this forum who do all sorts of projects who might be able to help you out. Perhaps if you explained what your project is about, someone here would be able to help you. I see that you are a fairly active member here, more so than myself, so you probably realize that Ceri, or nikininja may stop by before long with some guidance.

Thats cold man! :( Yeah, thats kind of whay I figured too. I guess there is no point in keeping it a secret. I'm building an electric cigar box guitar and wanted a 6 string neck instead of the 3-4 stringers you see most often.

Its actually pretty cool. So far I have a trem system from a strat style squire and a bridge bucker from an epiphone (wired to a WD 500 volume pot) and a PRS jack. Its an odd mix of parts but looks really cool. I'm just waiting now for a mahogony block (will be the toneblock/ neck pocket) to arrive and I need a neck (so I know what size pocket to route out.)

With that info, you may get more responses... CBG's are getting quite popular it seems. Be patient... while you wait try this out...http://www.vanderbilly.com/Guitar-Lesson-Ken+-+Hot+Rod+CBG,9429,1.html[/url]

I've changed the title of this thread as I have now located a neck.

So has anyone here constructed their own electric CBG?

List your experiences with your projects. I'm about half done with mine and will post pics tomorrow when I have my rough mock up done (excluding neck pocket and neck).

Ooh, I have been thinking of doing one too. If I screw up my Mini Strat project that's where the neck will go.

Phew! I can honestly say I didn't see this thread before you wrote that.

I do indeed have some spare necks - but I kinda don't want to let them go. But still I'd have felt very mean not letting you have one if you needed it!

Good luck with the project, all_thumbs. Looking forward to seeing what you have to show.

Cheers - C

I appreciate ya speaking up and the generous offer Ceri! However; after paying shipping and import taxes and such I suspect it would have been less than cost effective. Again the offer is much appreciated. 8)

I found a guy on ebay that custom makes necks from exotic woods. After swapping some emails we came to an agreement on a price for 2 necks. One is the strat style I'll be using for this prototype and another tele style for my 2nd attempt that will be all tele parts (with the exception of the body of course!)

As I said in my previous post. I'll have some pics up tomorrow afternoon of the rough mock up of the body.

I am like Ceri I have a few but would not let them go because you never no when you will want one, I even have a late 70's strat neck that someone gave me for the cost of putting there new neck on setting it up along with paying me 35.00 it does need a refret and tuners though. One day!!!!
