Does anyone thats capable of any kind of coherent thought process, have any info on Gilmour playing mexican strats? A picture perhaps including the black plastic truss surround? Without that one vital snap the guitar could be a VRI.

How come japanese strat owners never feel the need to get completely bombastic in defence of their unattacked instruments?

Anyone who answers those questions i'm taking out on the lash.

I recall a young EVH endorsing Kramer guitars. That doesn't mean that he didn't play that one a couple of times though.

If Edward played it he was too drunk too remember! I just asked him and he is too drunk to answer.

The MIJ HM Strats were the gems of that guitar era and style.

Rare? hell no I haven`t played it! Dur Dur Duh

That is a MIK Squier HM III. I know because I had one. This was the guitar type that my son accidently broke the neck on. I was always satisified with that guitar. Sounded really good. If everything still works and good order, you have a nice guitar there. Always loved the look of the headstock...it was unique for a FMIC product.

To answer your question, no...it is not worth much. You may be able to get $100 to $150 for that guitar, unless you know a collector of them. Sorry. As to the fact that EVH played on it, who is to say. I have never seen EVH play a Squier HM series ever.

If someone is offering you $1000 bucks for that beauty, I would take it. Run with it, and get yourself something else. That is unless you have sentmental value placed on that guitar.

Thanks for the pic I really have not seen one in a long time, especially in that good of condition. BTW mine was a maroon color I think it was called Midnight Wine. It was almost blood red.

I would be very surprised if that story were true. Why would he play a Korean Squier guitar and how to prove it.
If you like it then enjoy!

david gilmour has amitted to owning
3 MIM strats. so i would not be suprised

What does that have to do with this guitar! :? Proof! Something that is always absent!

open mouth insert foot AGAIN!
you make it sound like just because the guitar isnt a
MIA theres no way eddie van halen played this guitar B-S!
and my response was david gilmour owns 3 MIM strats and
enjoys playing them. go back to your little club i here them
calling you.

What would be the big deal if eddie van halen played it anyway. It still could be a piece of crap!!!! Van Hallen where would they be if not for David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar anyway???? They were a great group with great front men. The Cherone and Malloy times they sucked.

No Squier is collectable on the basis of its attributes alone. They may play well and that's fine. But the guitars themselves are not collectable.

Those first 82/83 MIJ squires are quite collectable. Myself i always had a fondness for the HM series guitars, especially the telecaster. So maybe they will become collectable. As everyone else seems to have said though, a sure $1K now is not to be sniffed at.

I would just like to applaud the guys on this post who made me laugh so hard my coffee came out my nose. It really is great to start off the day with a post like this. By the way Strat2004 have not seen you in awhile hows things going. I think who ever told this guy Vanhalen played this guitar has it confused with a Baretta which to the average person I can see the confusion.

Alwaysstrat, highwayoneplayer, and strat2004 are all the same person. He has been banned under the first two names and Brad has given him 2 out of three final warnings as strat2004!

thanks for the response to well... almost everyone... like i said it was a "rumor" eddie played it ONCE like in a private gathering. the guy who gave it to me is a friend of the family and he actually did know EVH and theres proof of that, but thats just a rumor, i dont care about that.

the people who have offered to buy it from me are usually metal players who go for 80's guitars specifically. if its not worth momre than a grand, i will keep it.

i have played it only a few times but it sounds great.

im not an avid guitar player so i dont know a lot.

thanks again to the people who respectfully responded with great info, and thanks to the douche bags that responded with sarcasm and a grouchie know it all tone that only a nerd who sits online all day bitching would have.

i like this site.
