Ah now endorphines and music is something i've recently been forced to explore to aid my smoking quit.
The simplified version is-
Addictive substances seize control of the brain and the first thing the majority of them do is control dopamine release. No dopamine = feel lousy all the time. Get a fix of whatever your addicted to be it coke, smack, nicotine or alcohol and your addiction rewards you with a dopamine rush. Which pretty much conns you into thinking that the substance makes you feel good.
Several medical persons familiar with addiction treatment told me that when you quit you need to spoil yourself rotten, basicaly to force your brain into releasing dopamine/endorphines without the addiction's say so. Listening to music you enjoy in a near perfect enviroment is pretty high up on my smoking cessation nurse list of endorphine releasing activities.

That is the most intelligent and informative post I've ever read on any forum anywhere. Thank you Niki.

Well Arcaix if thats the case i'd have to question the internet forums you participate on, but thankyou for the compliment.

In truth all honour goes to Allthumbs and Bigjay. Both of them guys helped me more than i can articulate. Bigjays advice that the smoking cessation nurse can trigger an endorphine rush was bang on the money too. :D

If Jay wants to explain he can, I wont speak for him.

This may be just an Urban Legend, but I heard that he used to put acid on a small cut on his forhead and wrapped it with a bandana/scarf to hide it. I also know he smoked Whacky Tobacky. I am sure that was the reason for Jimi's eyes to be rolling back while playing. Plus I know I make some pretty funny faces while playing, and I play straight.

In my experience acid is the one drug that doesnt cause involuntary eye movement. Infact it usualy causes 'staring at the wallpaper intently' syndrome.

It was the weed, smack and charlie with JH, in random sequence.

It does make you see crap that is not there. I watched my sister stare at a gas stove with the flame on swearing the flame was a little blue diamond for 30 minutes. I had to turn it off because she was about to touch it.

I have never done acid. I was always the one at the party not to be on it to ensure somebody did not do something stupid. I aways loved watching someone follow tracers. I hated the last trip that they were on, it was what I term "a bad trip". I thought someone was going to get stabbed with an icepick, "he's the devil, look at him", wholly crap that one was a close one.

RK---TMI, sorry

yeah but you only usualy hallucinate on the comedown. When yourdrug altered concious mind is too tired to combat dreamstate. As for feelings of killing people, thats not caused by the drug. The only thing the drug will do is bring the walls of restraint down.

BTW its entirely possible you 'picked up the buzz' without injesting. When you get a lot of people together on the same chemical,it happens. Like a pentecostal meeting.

He was also rumored to put acid tabs under his eye lids too!

as far as sustain and endorphines go... If anyone cares a lil home study find a copy of Phish's ~ Divided Sky! Some record breaking notes in some performances of that song.

No science here.

And Hendrix was a great showman. He learned that on the chittlin circuit.

What, how to take acid? Glad i didnt have to go that far. :P

An interesting side story.
Lemmy from motorhead roadied for hendrix inn67 to early 68. His main duty was scoring acid for JH. Its through that crowd that he met the members of hawkwind. So in a way JH is responsible for motorhead.

I always knew he'd achieved more than the wind cries mary.

Oh I wasn't in the "killing mind-set", but I had to break it up. And the funny thing is all I did was turn off the red light and put on normal light, the mood was over...crazy. I agree that it might not have been the drug because it was my sister's crazy ex-boyfriend that was instagating the whole event.
