Hhahaha yes Im sniffing airrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Martian I like your attitude about always selling guitars at the right price but most of us here love our guitars and would probably want to be buried with them so no one gets their hands on them lol. I have 10 now and its really hard to sell any of them but i have started. I even now own INXS lead guitar a custum Ibanez strat owned by Kirk Penguily thats difficult to sell but have a greater attachment to Lonely Boy because he allowed me to meet all of you and even started through Frantic my lounge here thats magic some one should slap me for even putting Lonely Boy on ebay.

It is the color no one wants that turns out to be the guitar years later everyone is looking for. My friend Big Rob bought the 25th anniversery when it came out but got the white one in Sam Ash in Bklyn and everyone was ragging him because he did not get the hot Porsche Silver so a few weeks later he changed it to the silver and we all know they only made 500 white ones. A few months back this poor guy who had a stroke was selling off some of his axes he listed two Ernie Ball MusicMan EVHs mint except for some color fading. One blue and one Pink. Now I knew they made about 1500 blue ones which got close to 30 bids on ebay, but I also knew they only made about 200 pink ones and that ax got 5 bids and I am looking at it right now in my basement.

Those pink paisley Strats were difficult to shift when they first appeared, too... worth a mint now. In Australia we have Coral Pink Strats rather than Shell Pink. Coral Pink was the name given to the shade that resulted from the fading of Dupont's antipodean equivalent of Fiesta Red. I can't recall the name of the particular red used on the cars of the time, but it did result in a unique colour. Highly prized...

There is a small cult of guys who want/collect shell pink Fender or pink guitars. In John Entwistle's book about his collection, he said he used to daydream with Pete about the guitars they would buy once they became rich and famous. One of the guitars he mentioned was a Pink Strat.

John definitely had a collector's mentality. As Roger Daltrey said about John, if one of the same guitar was good, two was even better.

There was a thread on the Fender Forum about a Classic 60s Shell Pink strat for sale at a GC in Fountain Valley. There was a lot of back and forth about which GC. I actually figured out where it was based on the original post but didn't need to buy it since I had just bought one on Craigslist (the guy listed it as a 60s Classic Strat but only in the description did he mention that is was shell pink! I put 69 custom shop pups into it as well.)

I'm in the shell pink cult, here's what I have:

Masterbuilt Custom Shop by John Cruz 60s Shell Pink Strat, Rosewood with gold hardware, ash body. very very light strat

60s Relic Strat Shell Pink, missing COA. Rosewood

72 Thinline Shell Pink semi hollow Tele. Put flatounds on it! WOW!

Made in Japan 60s Shell pink strat w/Flatwounds and Rosewood

Made in Japan 60s Shell Pink Strat with Maple Board (fantastic player pretty much equals the custom shops)

Mexican Classic 60s shell Pink Strat w/69 Custom shop pickups

edit: forgot my Crafted in Japan paisley strat and tele.

The guy who bought the Shell Pink Strat from the GC in Fountain Valley posts on this board as well as the Fender Board. (I think it's Miami Mike?)

You don't know how close you were to losing that strat in Fountain Valley!
I checked the Used Section of every GC in So. Cal and used the key word Classic 60 strat. Bingo in Fountain Valley. But I saw the Craigslist the same day and it was closer.

Hi strat56brownie: I'm understanding you right - you're saying you own all those pink guitars?

Great Scott, man: that has to be one of the most unusual collections seen on the Fender Forum! You must post a picture of that lot immediately - please!

 - C

Vinniepop I payed just about 3K for that one. And if there were any sharpshooters bidding that day I would of never got it. If you look at the Ernie Ball MusicMan EVH model listings on ebay you will very never see more than about 5 or six guitars ever listed as they only made about 7000 guitars total so they are very hard to come by. Plus no matter what shape they are in you are going to pay over two grand
