Do I need to route the body for the battery I have five trem springs and would like to keep them. Its a 07 american strat

Hi Ronhansen.

You dont neccessariy have to route for a battery space depending on what you have in the control cavity. This guy installing a clapton boost circuit can get the battery next to the 5way switch. It may well work for you too.
Take a look at how he's done this for a few ideas.

Do you use the trem? I installed EMG SAs and went with 2 springs and blocked the trem.

I figure you have 3 basic options, control cavity, remove at least 2 springs, or rout the trem cavity.

I have EMG SV's in my STrat, and there is plenty of room in the standard control cavity for all the controls, the nine-volt battery (in a battery clip mounted to the interior side of the control cavity) and an EMG PA-2 clean boost. No routing required.
