Pick almost any player, and you will usually find they have played most of the main brands, at least at some point.
rkreisher, I noticed you had Tony Iommi on your list, but he played a white Strat exclusively early on. he used his backup SG when pickup failed. That's when he made his switch, and especially after his accident, he liked the SG for it's lesser string tension, on his prosthetic (thimble) fingertips.

but he used his Strat through the first couple incarnations of Sabbath(earth,) and his stint in Jethro Tull. then his return to sabbath, halfway through recording their first album was when the pickup conked out. so the first sabbath album has a lot of Strat work on it. Apparently you couldn't just buy replacement pickups for the strat (in england, anyway back then,) so he eventually traded his Strat for a saxophone.

Did the late Allen Collins....Skynyrd/Rossington collins band ever sling a strat?........every photo/video always had a explorer,a truly great guitarist

Has anyone mentioned Robben Ford? I've seen him with his Esprit and a Les Paul, but never a Strat.

Boy, it's hard to think of Rock guitarists who've never been photographed at some time or another playing a Strat.

I was thinking about Leslie West, but he's holding some "Strat-type" guitar on a couple of CD covers ...
