OK this may not be a strat question but this is the only board i go to. I just need to vent for a second then i will be fine. Fender just made a Tim Armstrong Acoustic which is made to look like his 1960 fender acoustic. Here is the kicker Tim is LEFT HANDED and so is the 1960, look at the pricing buy a right handed one for 299.99 buy the left handed one for 349.99. Are you kidding me? Since your making the guitar for Tim should it not be left handed standard. And right handed be a special order. I dont care if the majority of people are right handed. Thats like making only SRV strats left handed, or Hendrix strats to be right handed oh wait they already do that dont they? Thanks for reading my rant I will feel better in a minute.

HAVE A GREAT DAY STRAT PEOPLE

Im right handed but my twin 15 year old daughters are both left handed...I also don't understand why left handed guitars or other things such as sporting gear cost more...It isn't like it takes a different amount of material to make it left handed or that it would be anymore difficult to make something left handed...I guess it is just a supply and demand thing...

My biggest thing is if your going to honor someone by making a guitar with their name on it do it right. make it left handed as it should be. make right hand people turn it over for once. Aright i was just kidding dont jump all over me. thats like making a blackie that is painted green doesnt make much sence to me.

The reason Lefty guitars are more expensive is that since righty guitars are the norm, the production line is tooled to produce right handed guitars. the production of lefties requires a shutdown of the line, and a retooling. Simply made it interferes with ease of production to make lefty models.

Even making a signature model for a left handed player, the vast majority of demand is going to be from right handed players. that said, with modern machines doing most of the work, much I wonder how valid it is to still charge so much more for the lefty model.

Ok then what is the difference between a right and left handed acoustic body nothing. the bridge and nut are the only difference.

Not ever having done it i wouldnt know, but is setting up a otherhand guitar more difficult than setting up one for whichever hand you use?

I bet Chets done a few righties and could give us some insight. I can imagine it being very time consuming. I like to get my hands on the strings during a setup and check it out by playing. That wouldnt be available to me on a lefty guitar. Surely lefty players have the same when working on righties.

All the above is precisely why this lefty (me) took another lefty's advice to learn how to play righty. To this day, I can't thank that person enough. Believe it or not, she was a left-handed trumpet player with a custom made, left handed trumpet.

I understand the tools and everything are setup right handed. You are missing the point. When Fender said lets make this guitar for this person who is left handed . At that point they had to make all new tools and jigs and what nots just for that guitar. make the tools and everything for a left handed guitar from the start . the cost is the same. then make right handed toole etc. and reverse the process. Charge more for the right handed model which as all of you have clearly stated there are more right handed people wouldnt you make more $$$. And we all know how much Fender likes $$$. Not only will you honor the person you will make more $$$.

Like Martian I am a lefty who plays righty.

I still don't like the fact that leftys have to pay more, and deal with less availability of instruments. I play righty, because I had to learn originally on other people's instruments. If more lefty stuff had been available for me when learning I probably would have learned lefty.

The fact that this guitar started life as a lefty is kind of irrelevant since once they set up for a production run, they would have been tooled up for right handed.
