jay I would say, if you have no interest in painting, then buying a 2nd hand body is the way to go. A lot of people want a genuine neck.

Personally, for me a big part of the fun is either trying to replicate a classic finish, or designing my own. It is infinitely easier to paint an unfinished body, than it is to strip one down and redo it. I know some people say to just scuff sand the existing paint, but I disagree.

I am not as hung up on having genuine Fender partscaster, but then I already own almost all the Fenders I crave. ( I don't have any kind of Tele, and so i need a Genuine Fender, and damn if the nocaster ,I saw a little while ago, doesn't haunt my dreams.)

I wouldnt mind trying to paint one sometime. If I did, I'd go with Warmouth. Youre right....no reason to strip one down. Niki was trying to talk me into building one from scratch....like sawing the wood. BWAH!!!!! That would be a fiasco for sure. He admitted he secretly would have enjoyed watching me loose it after botching a couple tries. Actually, I'd love to do that sometime, but I really dont have the infrastructure, skills or time right now. Someday. Hear that Niki??????

I want to do a scratch build, including neck this winter. I have some sweet plans.
