I am thinking about building my own Strat. Mainly because it's the only way to get exactly what I want.

Is there anyway to get a hold of a brand new (preferably unfinished) Fender Strat body? I'm talking about the same bodies that they use in the Fender Factory! Not a aftermarket made by someone else. I want it to be of the same exact quality they use on the line for brand new MIA Strats.

Or is there an aftermarket company that sells the same bodies that Fender uses?

I just want it to have the same sound/tone quality as a MIA. That's why I want a real Fender body and not an imitation. I want to be able to put together the guitar I want and most importantly to have it sound like it came from the Fender plant.

I'm Looking for the same thing with the neck. I want it to have the same sound quality as a Fender. I would prefer that it had the Fender name on it but but I don't want a serial number so it can never be mistaken as a real Strat made by Fender. Not that I ever plan on selling it. I was planning on putting my name where the serial number would usually go.

So basically what I am asking is if there is a company out there that sells the same exact parts (body and neck) that are used on the Fender production line without serial number on them? Or can I buy them from Fender Direct? Because I want to build a Strat that will sound like a real Fender Strat but never be mistaken as one.

Fender doesn't use wood from a magical forest or anything.
Companies like Warmoth (and others, Mighty mite, etc, I use warmoth as an example because i have worked with their products and have first hand expeience, oddly never made one for myself though,) these compnies build bodies to the exact specifications fender does.

If you buy an alder body from them, it is the same thing as an alder body you managed to steal from the fender assembly line. You can get what you want from a Fender Licensed Replacement Part manufacturer.

I think it would be next to impossible to get an actual unfinished Fender body ... unless you know somebody who works there ...

What kind of finish are you thinking about? If it's a solid color, then just buy a Fender body from E-bay and paint it!

As BigJay said, you can buy actual Fender parts. You should be able to find a Fender neck without a serial number ... some models have their serial numbers on the neck plate, so those necks are without them.

If Fender doesn't use wood from magical trees then why do most Fenders sound better then the immitations out there?

I've seen some places claim that they were licensed copies or that the company was licensed by Fender to make the copies or I should say replacement parts. Does that sound accurate or True?

He mentioned he is interested in MIA. Serial numbers are standard on the MIA necks I think. Maybe not on some of the vintage models, though.

That's just my point! And exactly what I had in mind: the Vintage Reissue necks don't have serial numbers.

Off the top of my head, I can't list other MIA models that don't have serial numbers on the necks ... are there others?

I want a plain flat black finish with no shine to it at all

If he does like you and gets a Highway One neck, he can just sand off the serial number from the back of the headstock. He must be capable of refinishing since he was talking about an unfinished body.

Jay and Orville bring an interesting point. Do you know how to do a guitar finish?

If you do, it really opens up a ton of options for you. You could do your black, but finish your clear coats with a flat, satin, or matte lacquer.

you could use a flat black automotive paint. Many options.

If you don't know how to paint, you would have to buy one custom painted that way, or else buy a black Highway 1 body, I think it's fenders only matte finish.

The black Highway One would be the quickest way to have what you want!

Here you go.....

One black, nitrocellulose Hwy 1 body....

Lots more where that one came from.

or more than just the bare body, for not much difference in price:

These guitars are so common, the biggest problem will be deciding which is the better deal.
