Nope, I won't be buying one. There's no guitar worth $17,000 in my book. I'm fairly sure it isn't $15,000 better then my EJ strat.

$17,000 is a little too much for any guitar.

Looks like some sort of Frankenstein Strat to me, looks better then
number one.
I like SRV but don't like the hype about ''signatures'' guitars.
Choose your own number one or build one from parts.

Peter

I totally agree!!

They are well built guitars, but I have no use for them. I customize too much.

The Fender Custom Shop will produce 250 replicas of Lenny, one of the late Dallas-bred guitarist's two primary performance guitars. It got its hands on the axe courtesy of Guitar Center, which bought it for $623,500 at auction in 2004, and is re-creating every inlay, etch mark, crack, wear spot and glue smear in the copies, which will cost $17,000 each – about the average price of a new Harley-Davidson.

Seems a bit silly to me. No offense Fender....if you can get that price for an axe go for it. I just can't see paying $2,000 for a guitar and an extra $15,000 for "vibe".

Agreed. Thats what I do

Although... If you're interested in guitars as an investment, maybe some of these custom shop limited editions would be good. Me, I buy/assemble guitars to play them.

no guitar is worth that much imganmne if they were $1700 like an ej fender would sell 10,000 unit in the fist month, thats more than they will make with 100 only, seems strange.

Nope, if I would be afraid to take anything that cost that much out and touch it!!!!

Definitely for the collectors who can afford them and have a place to store and display them well too.

They'll end up in various collections and several Hard Rock Cafe's I'm sure.

17,000 is to much, it's just ridiculous. Besides, the only guitar that SRV owned that I'm interested in is "Number 1". It was the amazing one, not the others. In my opinion all his others were just plain ole strats, nothing special about them.

Do you realize just how many truly "special guitars" you can buy for 17,000 bucks.

The weird thing, to me, is they had the "Blackie" replica at 24 grand, and Lenny at 17. Who comes up with these numbers? They seem fairly arbitrary. Is Blackie really 7 grand "better" than Lenny?

No way any guitar is $7000 better then another. After you're done paying for a great neck, electronics and tone wood....all you're paying for is vibe.
