Hello.....

Anyone else run into problems with certain pinch harmonics on the VG Strat? Example: use the open G tuning and try to play a pinch harmonic on the 5th string (A-string) slightly (1/2") in front of the middle pick-up. Mine is warbling real bad there and there are a few other spots where this occurs as well. But it only seems to be happening on strings that are being digitally re-tuned. The B-tuning is real bad with pinch harmonics pretty much everywhere.

Also, something else that is sort of weird but perhaps handy for VG unique tones: when using an Ebow in harmonic mode in conjunction with any of the VG's modeled tones/tunings, not only does the Ebow create the intended "5th above" harmonic like it is supposed to, but the VG also picks up on the string's fundamental note (non-harmonic tone) and blends the two. I've never run into this anomaly on any other guitar (including my other Strats, Teles, and Gibson Les Pauls so I'm guessing that the GK pick-up is getting confused by the Ebow. But it is actually a very cool tone that sounds something akin to Patty Griffin's "Stolen Car" song. Almost like a feedback tone, more so than what the Ebow usually does. Pretty sweet.

Yeah I'm liking the VG quite a bit (other than the weird tracking issues on the pinch harmonics when using strings that have a modeled alternate tuning). It isn't as nice of an instrument as the American Deluxe models but it seems a step up from the Highway One Strats that I've played. That being said it seems like you are paying $1800 (street) for an $800 Strat with really expensive electronics. I'd say if you want the instant tuning/tone modeling capabilities more then go for the VG. If you are wanting a better made instrument go for an American Deluxe.
