Ever since I have started playing guitar there has always been a special guitar I wanted. The only problem is that I can't find anywhere that will custom make it for me. My dream guitar is a stratocaster completely colored gold on the the neck and body. The knobs, wammy bar, and pickups would be silver. The pickups would be S/S/S. I would want the body, pickguard, back of neck, and the top of the neck colored gold. The fretboard would be rosewood. I dream about playing it and I want to get it so badly. Is there any possible way I can get one custom made for me? It has to be exactly the way I described it though.

I forgot to mention that it has to be a bright gold color. I don't want it to be a dull ugly gold color. Also I would like the price to be around $600-$700 or less.

Sure Goldfinger, prob the custom shop could do one for you ^^ I didn't say it would be cheap, but they could do it >_> You can always ask Mike Eldred to make sure.

Basically the same thing as this except the back of the neck and the headstock would also be painted right? They sell anodized gold pickguards and knobs, as for silver pickups I think you would have to have them painted. So to answer your question yes, but show them the money :P

edit: Do the knobs, whammy and hardware have to be silver or is chrome good enough <_<

Very curious. Does the Fender Custom Shop actually take orders from non-rock stars? If so, what's the procedure? Just call 'em up and describe the specs for your dream guitar? How much would they charge? I've always thought it would be spectacular to have a guitar built to order that was also a genuine fender.

This was the Clapton Gold Leaf Stratocaster from 2003

Of course they build guitars for non-rock stars! Go to Sam Ash or Guitar Center (or any other authorized CS dealer) and ask for a form. Fill it out, get a quote, wait a year. Simple. It costs usually about $2500-$4000.

And honestly, to think that someone will build you a guitar for $700-$800 is just simply crazy. Not even dreaming. It's practically impossible. You'd better start savin' up.

For that money, you'll get a used American Standard guitar.

I seem to remember an all gold Strat offered by Guitar Center 2-3 years ago as a special model. Does anybody else remember that MIM gold Strat???

Wow that would be an awesome guitar. I do know of a builder who might possibly be able to do this guitar for you and for much less than a customshop. I have one of his guitars and compared prices I saved over $2,500. Hes an incredibly nice guy and takes alot of time making sure you have what you want. http://kemmerycustomshop.com/
Check him out you will suprised on what you get for your money.
Tell him the guy with the fiesta red strat w/ matching headstock sent ya.

Why do you need a guy like Kemmery to screw together a bunch of Musikraft parts?

There's no "custom" work going on there. You can do that yourself with better parts from Warmoth or USACG for the same price, and if you think you need a relic for some reason you can beat the damn thing up yourself.

My 100% Warmoth Strat-style is so "custom" it's not even funny, smokes every CS guitar I've put it against, and it cost about what Mr. Kemmery lists as his "starting" price, including the G&G hardsehll case.

I echo this sentiment.

Decide if you want to do any actual building, or painting, or if you just want to assemble parts.

Figure out your budget.
Figure out what features/specs you want.
Put together a parts list.
Do some shopping.
Assemble.
Do a full set up. (You can learn to do this, or pay someone-I would only pay if it needs fret work. the rest you can/should probably learn form a couple books easily.)

Enjoy.

Then compare your tricked out guitar to what you would have gotten if you paid someone a huge chunk of change to spin a screwdriver. The wiring is arguably the hardest part , but you can get some pretty dummy proof diagrams, and pictures. Just take your time, and actually spend a half hour or so, learning to solder on some scrap wiring.

+1 on what 12Bar said.

The biggest compatability issue is with the body and the type of tremolo.
There are different dimensions in play.
So be careful when planning and buying those two things.

Thanks Orville. I should have pointed that out. Body shopping, that is usually the biggest concern. the well known companies will be spot on for measurements and such, but it you by one milled for the Standard trem, and then buy a vintage one, it's a no go.

Hmmm. Well I'm wondering whether the various bodies posted on this thread count as "bright gold" or "dull ugly gold color" in the OP's mind.

If you're talking about a body and neck shiny like polished metal - well then don't hold your breath...
