I hate to admit I've been around longer than a lot of others that post here, but back in 77 I paid $600 for a Les Paul Custom in 80 I paid a little over $600 for an American Strat. If you compare the price of both today the Strat is a bargain. :D filerj

Glad you thought the comment was hilarious, sometimes the truth is.

And would you like me consider the price you paid for vinyl wrecked by putting coins on it, and all the rest of that abusive ways we found to play records, worth having a decent ear that can jam without a chordsheet, not have to go online to know what key a song is played in.

Necessity is very much the mother of invention

I'm sure they pay the Mexican and Chinese workers exactly what the American workers make.
No it's greed pure and simple. If the economy goes into deflation and we still have jobs, we'll make a killing. I seems like they're preparing for it.

You could put a coin on a tape, you'd never get it in the player though :D

I believe it was: are MIM guitars worth their price? I mean, when it comes down to it, aren't they JUST as good as MIA guitars?

Oh, I just looked. It's the price increase thing again.
The answer is....... Yep they did. My response to Fender is I sold my HRDlx and just bought a new amp and it ain't a Fender. I may even sell my GDec 30 and buy a Line 6 Jam. Who knows.

Hmmm....I paid $375 for my 82 Dan Smith Strat after I graduated from highschool in 83. I also purchased the Super Champ along with it for $250 all from guitar center.... Yes, I have been a GC shopper since I was a kid...over 20 years GC shopping experience... My parents purchased them for me for my grad present. I still have them, but strat became a partsocaster over the years. I regret screwing it up to this day. That is why I never like modifying my guitars and amps.

That's why I have a big drawer with clearly la belled boxes and baggies with every single part that i pulled off of every guitar, except the broken stuff. if you want to swap back, just locate the right box.

My main Strat has only had the stock tuners swapped for Schaller locking tuners with the 'F' But only my Epiphone Dot is totally stock. (For now, I don't really like the pickups, so i am thinking of ordering some TV Jones Filtertrons for it. heh who needs to eat brand name food anyway right? )

Personaly i like it when a post takes many twists and turns along the avenue of discussion. Its far more interesting than the insipid original post anyway.
