My local Guitar Center has a blue classic player 60's strat for $699. It looks like they retail for $1,100. Is there anything about this guitar that makes it undesirable? I think they are made in Mexico. Is this true?

Hi,
This is indeed a Made in Mexico strat, but a damn good one. I know several fender players who prefer this one (and the classic 50s one) above the American Standard!! Go for it, you wont regret it!
Greetings

I love the Classic Players series (50's and 60's and 70's). It's a great guitar at a great price.

There is no Classic Player 70s.

There is some confusion due to Fender calling one line

"Classic" and the other line "Classic Player"

For the Strat the "Classic" line has the 50s, 60s, 70s

For the Strat the "Classic Player" has the 50s 60s

I own a Classic 60s Strat

I also own a Classic Player 50s and 60s strat.

The Classic Players are much better guitars and also cost a bit more.

The Classic line is also very good but I really love the Classic Player Strats.

Go to the Fender Product page to review all of the differences but if I had to buy a Strat I'd go with Classic Player, 50s or 60s depending on your preference. Mine was both and they both are smokin' axes.

Yeah the Classic Players do look sharp and I too have seen a few going on Ebay for very low prices. I would have bought one but the modern two-point bridge is a no sale for me.

Ahh, my bad. Yeah, it's been a while since I've worked for an M.I. retailer lol I just meant the Classic series, I haven't checked out any of the Classic Player series yet.
