Strats that have separate volume & tone knobs for each pickup? Would be hard to fit them all on the pickguard but that'd be a fairly original experiment? :D

Forum user the right honourable CA Feathers did just that mod using concentric pots. The jolly nice and accomodating fellow that he is, he even sent me the wiring diagram. Unfortunately a computer crash caused the loss of the diagram. With any luck he may look in and post his masterpiece again.

yes indeed! Concentric pots is the way to go. It will look like a regular strat (if you stick with the regular type of pickup selector switch). Each control will adjust the volume and tone of a single pickup.

Have fun with that!

Basically, it is two potentiometers(pots) in one, one stacked onto the other. http://www.guitarnucleus.com/gnstore/el ... 5_meas.jpg

All you have to do is wire it up so that one of the pots(preferably the bottom for easier soldering) for tone, and the top one for volume to control one pickup. I'm not really sure which shaft controls which pot but all you have to do is look in the little hole under the connectors, turn one shaft and see which one it moves.

BTW, regular knobs wont work on these pots so your gonna have to get special ones.

Hi Ninj: Chet sent me that diagram too. I wouldn't want to publish it publicly without his say so, but if he sent it to you then I'm sure it's OK for me to forward you another copy. I'll pop it in an email for you.

It certainly is a superb piece of work. With all due respect to Brian May (on who's design it is based) Chet and Redmax's circuit is significantly better in several ways. Extremely cool!

And no, we haven't seen much of Chet recently, have we? I hope it's his new studying that's taking up his time...

Cheers - C
